Yesterdat not great overnight, but could have been worse.
Still not out of the woods up North. Queensland expecting bad conditions after NSW got a bit of respite.

Fires starting to quiet down a bit. Still a few hot spots and plenty of fires still burning in remote areas.
Fair bit of damage done up North, and unfortunately a few fatalities.
WA was feeling left out so it seems....

Now for the clean up. Like Black Saturday down here, many will never recover. 10 years later and plenty are still physically and mentally scarred. Still affects me when I remember that day, and I was not directly impacted by the fire.

You should write the story of Black Saturday in Oz. I would like to Publish that on the Diner Blog.

Your recollections, people you know who got hit, etc.

I have a few stories about Black Saturday. A property I cut wood on lost their house and they narrowly survived when many of their neighbours didn't.. Stories of apathy before hand and finger pointing afterwards by the same people is what wrangles me still to this day. 10 years later we are back to apathy. Would make very poisonous cynical reading....

Sounds like my type of story now I think about it.
I will see how much time I have this weekend.

I will write an essay about Black Saturday over Christmas holidays when I have time on my hands.
Here is an update of what local areas are like 10 years later. I cut firewood in Kinglake West, and the Kilmore East fire came within 10km of my place on Back Saturday, before wind change blew it up to Kinglake and eventually linked up to Marysville, which was pretty well wiped off the map.
https://www.theage.com.au/national/in-the-path-of-disaster-the-big-causes-of-bushfires-that-most-of-us-are-missing-20191115-p53b0b.html

Fires up North still burning:

https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fires-near-me
Tasmania is even starting to get into the action:

The Psychology of people in bush fires is an interesting topic. I have experiences to share about this when I write my essay.

My time will come. Every year I try and prepare a little bit more. Every year the conditions get worse and I get a bit older and slower. Every year the local population density increases.

If there is an afterlife I will seek you out for a quiet beer or 5 followed by a few rowdy ones. Don't plan of finding out any time soon.

Oz fires are still around and popping up everywhere.
