I just don't love the bread they make those out of. If it has to be a panini, at least put it on real baguette, and not foccacia or ciabatta.

This one was done with a Kaiser Roll.  It just gets squished down in the Panini Press.

🥔 Doomstead Diner Munchy Special: 2/20/2018

I napped through Dinner AGAIN!   ::) This is getting to be such a regular occurrence I am adding a new Feature Food category, the Munchy Special!  :icon_sunny:

For today's Munchy, it is Potato Chips with Onion Dip.  Onion Dip was probably the first recipe I learned how to make, my Dad the Pigman showed me even before we left for Brazil, so I was less than 6.  Sour Cream + Lipton's Onion Soup Mix, mush together and POOF, the perfect complement to your industrially produced Potato Chips!  :icon_sunny: You do need to be careful not to use too MUCH Onion Soup Mix, it makes the dip too salty (IMHO).

That looks awfully good.

This was supposed to be last night's dinner but it got pushed back to tonight due to an urgent need to nap last night.  :icon_mrgreen:

This was my favorite pork recipe that my mom cooked and one of her better dishes.

Quiches are GREAT!  :icon_sunny: You make one for the week  on Sunday and you can microwave at will, or just eat at room temp for breakfast or lunch the rest of the week.  Featuring Ham & Eggs this week, so here is a nice looking Quiche offering.  Also using a different cheese than usual, I never tried making this combination.

The morning "Croissandwich" made famous by Burger King, but here at the Diner we do it better.  Fresh baked croissants, eggs over EZ, smoked Gouda cheese and Mangalitsa Ham to cap off our list of the finest ingredients!

Continuing on with our Celebration of Ham 🐖 week here at the Diner, today we go with a Hawaiian Pizza.  They didn't have HPs when I was a kid, and I never developed a taste for them in later years either.  The Sweet of the Pineapple 🍍 just doen't fit with the overall Pizza taste to me.  However, lots of people like them and they are on the menu at most of the bigger pizza joints around here.

Made generally famous by the Honey Baked Ham company, you can now buy Spiral Sliced Ham at just about every Food Superstore, at least around the Holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas in the FSoA.  When I was OTR and didn't have time to be the Turkey Cook, I would always buy a Honey Baked Ham as my contribution to Turkey Day Dinner.  Expensive, but I was making good money.  My sister cooked the Turkey in those years.  Her hubby usually got the turkey free as a bonus from his job.  There were three women, a Grandma/Mom/Daughter combo friends of my mom from across the street who would join us and my nephew was married with his first kid.  So it was a pretty big gathering.  That was an annual event for about 5 years during my OTR period.

In honor of Knarf's current mood.  :)  It has ham in it, so it fit the theme this week!

For you Paleos out there, just the Fat and Protein in today's lunch, a Prosciutto Roll.  Prosciutto is an Italian dry cured ham that is uncooked.  Since it's ham, it fits in the theme for the week of Pig 🐖 derived foods.

OK, Pork Chops are not Ham, but they are still Pig 🐖 Meat, so they roughly fit the theme of the week here in the Diner Kitchen.  :icon_sunny:  You want a real good pork chop to make these, good FAT content!  Mangalitsas would probably work well.
