Ok, I am not going to read the whole thread to find out what the current rules are.  Good King Stan is dead.  A real Prez of the world has to be alive which disqualifies many, even some who breath and have beating hearts.  I went with Putin in the initial choices, selection being limited.  There are many living choices which can be considered.

Juan Evo Morales Ayma (born October 26, 1959), popularly known as Evo (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈeβo moˈɾales]), is a Bolivian politician and cocalero activist who has been serving as President of Bolivia since 2006. Widely regarded as the country's first president to come from the indigenous population,[a] his administration has focused on the implementation of leftist policies, poverty reduction, and combating the influence of the United States and multinational corporations in Bolivia. A socialist, he is the head of the Movement for Socialism (MAS) party.

The Rockefellers and the Rothschilds and the Warburgs and the War Bucks and the rest of the the super elites don't give a rat's ass who is president. They don't care about consolidating political power under one despot. It's just about absolute power over everybody's money.

No use playing games with dead people when there are good courageous leaders who have done things right. This guy will be dead soon (He's two weeks  older than I am) so he's CLOSE to being dead...he's retired, but we could bring him back.

We'll do it again open to still living people.  For this one, you have to pick a dead person from history.  Those are the rules.

RE

He put his son in power who when coronated said:

Quote
“ Throughout my reign, I will never rule you as a King. I will protect you as a parent, care for you as a brother and serve you as a son. I shall give you everything and keep nothing; I shall live such a life as a good human being that you may find it worthy to serve as an example for your children; I have no personal goals other than to fulfill your hopes and aspirations. I shall always serve, day and night, in the spirit of kindness, justice and equality.”

From His Majesty's Coronation Address to the people of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 6 November 2008

I'll have to stick with Good King Stan the First.

Great choice!  Now we have 3 nominees from history:

1-  Mother Theresa
2-  King Stan
3-  RE's Mystery nominee

I need at least 2 more nominees before I set up the Poll.  I want a nice selection to choose from, unlike Amerikan elections.  Come on Diners!  You have all of recorded history to choose from!  There must be SOMEBODY you think would make a good POTW!

Cyrus II of Persia. 559 BC – 530 BC.

Cyrus was tolerant to all who lived under his empire and allowed them to practice their religions and maintain their forms of government asking only for a yearly tribute. He is credited with coming up with the first declaration of human rights. Today a translation of his declaration is on the wall of the United Nations building. Many people believe that much of the Persian empires policy of tolerance comes from its Zoroastrian faith which advocates the universal brotherhood of mankind.

Could also make a case for King Louis XIV of France.

You only get one nominee.  Cyrus  II now on the Ballot.

Reminder folks, you don't have to stick to just Kings and other Monarchs, you can pick from Philosophers, Scientist, whatevah.  The only restriction is they have to be dead.

Jesus Christ:  Ineffective Leader with a failed philosophy
While I can't argue with you that his philosophy has failed to have been followed for the most part, but as an organizational leader, who else has started institutions that have lasted 2 millennia?  Perhaps the ancient Egyptians, but I'm not sure we even have the names of their founders....  Constantine's Byzantine Empire barely made 1 millennium.

Bonus, his organization grew in a time while the rest of Western civilization was collapsing....

I was going with Cyrus but someone beat me to it so I have a new deadster choice.

HYPATIA
Hypatia was born in 370 A. D. in Alexandria, Egypt and was later described as a beautifully and well-proportioned woman. She was the daughter of Theon who was a distinguished professor at the University of Alexandria. Nothing of Hypatia's mother is known, but that is not uncommon for this time period.

Theon had high expectations for his daughter for he was intent on producing a perfect human being. For this reason, Hypatia was a fortunate child. Her father acted as her tutor and teacher when training Hypatia in the fields of arts, literature, science, and philosophy. Theon also made his daughter do physical activities, such as rowing, swimming, and horseback riding, to keep Hypatia physically fit. Hypatia was trained in speech enhancing her ability to relay her knowledge to others and her giftedness to be an orator.

RE

Constantine himself took care of business.  His descendants not so much but one relative who managed to avoid execution by Constantine's sons and who also became emperor himself could be a contender.  Julian the Apostate.  Too bad Julian had to leave Paris to die.  Had he lived longer he'd have made a huge impact on the world and we would be a more tolerant society now.  It would be an ironic society since it would be one a true loving god would like but all religions would be tolerated.  That was the actual Roman way.  Yet perhaps I put too many aspirations on this young man who was tolerant and who had learned to despise cruelty because he had experienced it himself.

Quote
Julian was a man of unusually complex character: he was "the military commander, the theosophist, the social reformer, and the man of letters".[5] He was the last non-Christian ruler of the Roman Empire, and he believed that it was necessary to restore the Empire's ancient Roman values and traditions in order to save it from dissolution.[6] He purged the top-heavy state bureaucracy, and attempted to revive traditional Roman religious practices at the expense of Christianity. Julian also forbade the Christians from teaching classical texts and learning.[7] His rejection of the Christianity imposed on him in his youth, and his promotion of Neoplatonic Hellenism in its place caused him to be remembered as Julian the Apostate by the church.

But I nominate Hypatia whom the Christians tore to pieces.

CH is still alive. He doesn't qualify for this election.  You have to pick somebody dead from history.  Save Chris for the next election of currently alive people.  Find somebody from history to nominate for this one.  How about Buddha?
