Changing Your Mind: Micheal Pollan's New Book
« on: July 04, 2018, 10:17:02 AM »
The Omnivore's Dilemma is a seminal work of our time. Proof that good journalism still exists in the world, for one thing. At least it did in 2006. Now Pollan has this book about psychedelics. It's getting a lot of buzz, so to speak.

The missus has bought a copy and has grabbed it first, so I have not had the pleasure of tasting it. Therefore I will republish, with credits, somebody else's review, in hopes of attracting comments from anyone who might have read it already.

My mind is so 20th century. There are some excellent videos on utoob. I'll let Pollan himself tell you about it.

I heard him give an NPR interview about it.  His rep is able to get the provocative but scientifically valid stuff out there the way others can't.  That and his skill.  The interview ended mentioning he teaches a class in writing in SF.  That would be fun to go to.

Notable quote:

There's an interesting line between the banal and the profound and psychedelics definitely works on that line.
