The Life & Times of Rensselaer Emo
« on: September 05, 2018, 11:08:28 AM »
I am starting a new Novel.  It covers the life of Rensselaer Emo, Born January 1, 1900 Died December 31,1999.

I know I didn't finish "How I Survived Collapse" but I am shelving it for now.  It had a lot of problems, mainly that most of the readers didn't GET that it was a joke parody.  ::)  I got tired of trying to explain that.

The new novel is going to be Historical Fiction, and Rensselaer (known as "Ren" or "RE") will experience both World Wars, the Great Depression and have some interactions with many historical figures.

I am taking suggestions now on what events and people you would like to see RE interact with over this timeline.  Currently, RE will be a Journalist and Photographer, and any relationship to the lives of John Steinbeck and Robert Capa is purely coincidental.  lol.

I need a female...I'm obviously being completely sexist. Hmmmm.

Mebbe.....Rachel Carson. That's a start.

Emma Goldman.  She hung out with Hemingway and Fitzgerald in Paris I believe.  I am going to definitely spend some time in Paris in the 1920s.  :icon_sunny:

If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.

I love Hemingway. I haven't quite read them all, yet, but I've read all four posthumous novels. Who else left four good books unpublished?  A Moveable Feast was one of those.

Shee-it he was good.

The Life & Times of Rensselaer Emo: Where should he be born?

RE is a White Male, so in 1900 it could be Europe, the FSoA, Canada or Oz.  I'm leaning toward Europe since lots of active history in that neighborhood around 1900.  I can't decide whether to give him rich parents or poor ones.  Also Eddie mentioned lack of females, I think he needs a love interest to sell the book to the ladies.  I think I'll give him an affair with Isadora Duncan as a historical figure, but make his primary love interest a fictional character.
