Apparently there’s an underwater Pyramid in Wisconsin
« Reply #240 on: September 15, 2019, 04:16:34 AM »

Underwater structures can be found in multiple areas around the world. These range from sunken monuments and temples, to even roads and large buildings. But why should we care about these underwater structures?

Based on ocean levels as a form of dating, the location of some of these structures would mean that they were built many thousands of years ago. Some, as far back as 10,000 or even 20,000 years ago. According to history as we know it, we were still hunting and gathering at that time, and certainly not building extravagant structures.

So who are these mysterious builders from a forgotten civilisation?

Many of us are likely somewhat familiar with the Yonaguni Monument in Japan, or even the Bimini Road in Bermuda. Here’s yet another less heard of pyramid that just happens to be resting at the bottom of a lake.

Lost Continent Hidden Beneath Europe

The lost continent “Greater Adria” emerged about 240 million years ago, after it broke off from Gondwana, a southern supercontinent made up of Africa, Antarctica, South America, Australia and other major landmasses.

Greater Adria was large, extending from what is now the Alps all the way to Iran, but not all of it was above the water. That means it was likely a string of islands or archipelagos, said lead author Douwe van Hinsbergen.
Great Adria would have been a good scuba diving region

Truly one of the great lost civilizations of the earth is the Inca Empire of the Andes Mountains of Peru. At its most powerful and illustrious during the 14th and 15th centuries, the Inca Empire at one point stretched over a vast area encompassing parts of Ecuador and as far south as Chile. For centuries this great civilization thrived, only to melt away into history with the coming of the gold-hungry Spanish conquistadors and fade away into the mists of time, leaving behind no record of their culture and way of life and making them one of the most enigmatic of ancient empires. Yet, for all of their mysteries some are more pronounced than others, with outlandish artifacts for with purposes unknown uncovered at times., and one of the more baffling of these is a monolithic stone which we are nowhere near figuring out.

Although the Incas left behind no written record for us to draw from, what they did leave are vast structures that remain standing strong centuries later. From temples, to citadels, to strongholds, massive walls, and roads, these ancient structures made use of enormous stones somehow moved to these locations and placed perfectly straight without any mortar and through methods we still don’t understand fully. In addition to these architectural mysteries the people of the Inca era also left behind other oddities that pop up from time to time, which serve to pose more questions than answers. One of these lies in the province Abancay in the region Apurímac in Peru, and has been wreathed in mystery ever since its discovery.

A roughly 4,000-year-old burial site discovered on an island off the coast of Georgia points toward ties between early hunter-gatherers living on opposite sides of North America.

As researchers led by Matthew Sanger, an anthropologist at New York’s Binghamton University, report in the journal American Antiquity, the McQueen shell ring—a large circle of shells centered around a burial pit filled with stone tools, the cremated remains of seven humans and a ceremonial copper band—closely mirrors graves seen in the Great Lakes region, suggesting ancient humans from what is now the United States’ Upper Midwest spread their funerary practices via direct contact with distant communities.

The team’s latest findings build on a study published in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports this past April. Per the paper, an elemental analysis of the copper band found on St. Catherines Island off the coast of Georgia pinpointed its origins to copper mines near Lake Superior, where similar copper objects appear in connection with early burials.

According to Science News’ Bruce Bower, the research indicates that envoys, traders or religious pilgrims from Lake Superior traveled more than 900 miles to St. Catherines, a small patch of land situated around 20 miles from Savannah.

Previously, Sanger tells Bower, “There was no clear evidence for direct, long-distance exchange among ancient hunter-gatherers in eastern North America.”

Although, the authors of the new study acknowledge that it is “difficult to determine the origin point(s) of the various mortuary practices found” at the shell ring, they note that parallels between practices seen in the far-flung regions, in addition to the copper’s proven provenance, suggest the emergence of “vast social networks thousands of years earlier than typically assumed.”

Writing for Ars Technica in July 2018, science journalist Kiona N. Smith explained that shell rings are common burial features in what is now the southeastern U.S. But the McQueen shell ring differs from neighboring grave sites in several ways: It is only the second coastal shell ring to yield a copper artifact (the other is in Poverty Point, Louisiana), and it reveals evidence of cremation—a practice rarely seen in the region.

Crucially, Bower explains for Science News, the fact that St. Catherines’ inhabitants directly followed rituals established by hunter-gatherers in the Midwest differentiates the exchange from those more commonly believed to characterize early North Americans’ interactions. Experts estimate that local populations started trading stone tools and other goods around 5,000 years ago, relying on a cascading string of exchanges between neighboring communities to slowly spread items further afield. With this decidedly indirect method, the original hunter-gatherers responsible for initiating trade had no influence on how later recipients wielded the objects at hand; when trade became more direct, however, rituals and objects were passed along with few changes.

Researchers have traditionally dated the advent of long-distance direct exchange to 2,000 years ago, but as Sanger and his colleagues note, the McQueen shell ring could place this practice’s emergence closer to 4,000 years ago. The impetus for such interactions, the team writes, may have been seasonal gatherings designed to join communities both nearby and further afield. According to Archaeology, individuals from the Southeast and the Great Lakes region could have assembled at St. Catherines for sumptuous ceremonies involving ritualistic funerals and feasts of fish, clams, oysters, hick

2,100-Year-Old ‘IPhone’-Like Belt Buckle Found in Siberia, Reports Say
BY JACK PHILLIPS
September 13, 2019

A 2,100-year-old belt buckle has been described as “iPhone-like,” leaving an archaeologist in amazement.

Archeologist Pavel Leus, who discovered the item in Tuva, Russia, said it resembled a modern-day smartphone, reported the Siberian Times. He also named the skeleton found near the item “Natasha.”

‘‘Natasha’s’ burial with a Xiongnu-era iPhone remains one of the most interesting at this burial site,” he told the news outlet.

From Beyond the Grave: Tomb Inscription Gives Unprecedented Insights Into Last Years of Pompeii

The fragments of data contained in the inscription might help scientists learn details about Pompeii, including the approximate number of people who lived there.

A discovery made by archaeologists at the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, which was buried in volcanic ash during the Mount Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD, offered researchers new insights into the life of the settlement before its destruction, Live Science reports.

According to the media outlet, the find in question is an inscription that was discovered on the wall of a tomb back in 2017 and got deciphered recently, with Massimo Osanna, director general of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, publishing a paper about it in the annual Journal of Roman Archaeology.

Part of the inscription describes a banquet organized by the wealthy man to whom the tomb apparently belonged, to mark his coming-of-age, with the party being served “on 456 three-sided couches so that upon each couch 15 persons reclined.”

As Osanna explained, this information might help determine how many people lived in the city back then, as those in attendance were likely all “adult males with political rights” who made up about 27 to 30 percent of Pompeii’s population, with the estimated total number of Pompeii residents thus being about 30,000 people.

The gladiatorial games held by the wealthy man was “of such grandiosity and magnificence as to be able to be compared with [that of] any of the most noble colonies founded by Rome, since 416 gladiators participated.”

Another part of the inscription mentions a famine, when the wealthy man organised free bread distribution and sold wheat at a discount to help his fellow citizens.

And yet another portion of the inscription tells of a riot that broke out during a gladiator show about 20 years before the Vesuvius’ eruption, when Emperor Nero “ordered that they [Roman authorities] deport from the City beyond the two-hundredth mile all the gladiatorial households [schools]” as punishment.

The inscription also mentions that the emperor ordered several Pompeii citizens involved in the riot to leave the city, and that the wealthy man actually managed to persuade Nero to allow some of the deported to return.

According to Osanna, the identity of the wealthy man wasn’t immediately clear as his name was likely carved into the now-destroyed part of the tomb, leading the scholar to speculate that the person in question might’ve been one Gnaeus Alleius Nigidius Maius who lived around AD 59.

Osanna also remarked that the translation of the inscription is preliminary, and that further research m

The Randall Carlson Podcast Kosmographia Episode 004 (part 2/2) with the Snake Bros, Bradley and Mike, from July 29, 2019. Randall reads from Plato's dialogue "Critias" (translation by Benjamin Jowett) that recounts the stories (passed down through the generations to Critias) told to Solon by the Egyptian priests re: repeated catastrophes, the short memory of the Hellenes (Greeks) and their cities' common goddess. RC also reviews the "myth" of the "Fall of Phaeton", which was an actual event retold as a story (from Bullfinch's Mythology). Locations of islands and other details are analyzed to their geographic accuracy. He wraps up with a review to answer whether there could be a sunken landmass in the region Plato proposed...

New evidence suggests a huge asteroid DID hit EARTH 12,800 years ago causing an ice age, wiping out dozens of species and decimating humans

A team of scientists discovered a ‘platinum spike’ suggesting a meteorite had hit
Found in Wonderkrater in the Limpopo Province, north of Pretoria in South Africa
Findings could prove mini-ice age Younger Dryas was triggered by a meteoroid

By MILLY VINCENT FOR MAILONLINE

8 October 2019

A huge asteroid may have hit the Earth 12,800 years ago causing global climate change and extinction, according to new evidence found in South Africa.

Scientists analysed ancient soil at a site called Wonderkrater and found high levels of platinum – which they say supports the The Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis that a disintegrating meteor hit Earth and caused a mini ice age.

The resulting ice age is believed by many scientists to have wiped out dozens of mammals species including the Mammoth and giant wildebeest and decimated the human population.

Scientists believe ‘platinum spikes’ found in ancient soil samples across the world are evidence of the meteor fragments that crashed into Earth.

Meteorites are rich in platinum and the Wonderkrater site  in the Limpopo Province, north of Pretoria in South Africa adds to almost 30 other platinum spikes found worldwide, mostly in the northern hemisphere.

Legends of the Inca and the mysterious Sun Disk that disappeared after opening a Stargate

by Corbin Black

Across the globe, two ancient civilizations worshipped the Sun. In South America, the ancient Inca ruler Pachacuti came to power with help from a mirrored sun disk. In Egypt, the Pharaoh Akhenaten focused all worship on a sun disk called the Aten.

Were these both cases of worshipping an idol of the Sun, or was there more to the story? For ancient astronaut theorists, these disks seem to represent advanced technology of extraterrestrial origin. Critics and mainstream scholars would shine a light on expected earthly explanations instead.

In this first article, we’ll take a look at the Inca, the Temple of the Sun, and the mysterious legends of the sun disk, as shown on the Ancient Aliens series. Later, we’ll look at the stories of the Aten and Pharaoh Akhenaten.

Ancient Aliens Season 12, Episode 15 focuses on the story of Pachacuti and his mysterious sun disk. The show proposes that the sun disk was a literal communications device. Rather than merely an idol that one would pray too, it was perhaps similar to a modern smartphone with advanced computer circuitry.

“Worldwide, it doesn’t matter what ancient culture, there is some type of a worship of a disk that came from the sky,” says Giorgio A. Tsoukalos. “It’s possible that this disk had some type of an extraterrestrial connection and that this disk was a technological device.”

Breathtaking, spectacular, awe-inspiring, spine-tingling and magnificent, just a few words that people have used to describe Sigiriya, an ancient city built on top of and around a giant granite outcrop that rises out of a plain in a remote region of Sri Lanka.

Human occupation aside, this is a stunning natural geological wonder, but the fact the entire rock was turned into a palace adds another dimension to it’s beauty.

It is located in the Matale District of the Central Province of Sri Lanka and was designated a World Heritage Site back in 1982 and although there has been a great deal of archaeological work at the site, much of it remains shrouded in mystery.

This lost city, a royal palace built onto and around this 200 metre-high granite rock is another ancient wonder of the world and in this video you can find out all about it. Please watch, like and subscribe.

Evidence of three human species and dangerous animals in one ancient Siberian cave

by Stephen D. Foster Jr.

As technology advances, the archaeological field is utilizing new tools to make discoveries that otherwise would have been missed. And thanks to new microscope technology, scientists are getting an even better look at the prehistoric Denisova Cave in Siberia where three species of humans and an assortment of ancient beasts took refuge.

For tens of thousands of years, the Denisova Cave in Siberia has been a complex system of intense interest by researchers.

Ancient needles dating back 50,000 years ago have been found, as have the remains of a 32,000-year-old horse species. In addition, remains from Homo sapiens, Neanderthals and the Denisovans for which the cave is named, have also been uncovered.
