I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why youíre here. Youíre here because you know something. What you know you canít explain, but you feel it. Youíve felt it your entire life, that thereís something wrong with the world.
You donít know what it is but its there, like a splinter in your mind

🥩 Diner Solstice Festival Appetizer: Steak Picanha Slewers

Feijoada
The early bird catches the worm...or in this case one of the juiciest cuts of meat you will ever eat off a skewer on a BBQ.  You can't usually find this cut on Butcher shelves or in the FSoA Food Superstores, but you can get it online or sometimes your Butcher will order it for you from his supplier.  A real Brazilian scrumptious appetizer, the only danger being you will eat too many skewers and ruin your appetite for the Feijoada Feast later this afternoon.  ::)

🎵 Solstice Festival Music: Promontory: Theme from Last of the Mohicans
« Reply #47 on: December 23, 2018, 12:48:23 AM »
Kicking off another day of Celtic inspired music, this time the theme from Last of the Mohicans, probably my favorite theme music of all time for a movie.  I'll sprinkle in several vids with clips from this movie, starting first here with the Death of Uncas.

You may wonder when I'll be moving on from the Celts to "Christmas Music".  On Christmas Eve of course.  ::)

🎵 Solstice Festival Music: The Highwayman - Loreena McKinnet
« Reply #48 on: December 23, 2018, 06:46:40 AM »
Another tune this morning from Loreena.  I first heard this song done by Phil Ochs, and it's still my favorite version for nostalgic reasons, but musically Loreena's version is better.  Also better vid to go with it.

In Part 2, we get Alice's Suicide.  This scene really got to me.

The National Dish of Brazil, and a Weekly Feast there, usually on Sundays starting around 2 in the afternoon.  The dish comes with built in sides of rice, beans, farofa, collard greens and fresh orange slices, so no need for more sides tonight.  I'm adding a Brazilian Soup as a starter since I am getting no help with this thread. :(  You can still drop in with a wine choice or dessert though.

OK, once again no contributions from the Diners. :)

So I'll offer up a Traditional Desert for the Sunday Feijoada Feast on Rua Joachim Nabuco back in the 60s.  The Feast wasn't finished until everyone was passed out drunk and over-stuffed.

Done with dinner and it's time to PAAAAHTY!  ;D

Kicking off the festivities with an Irish Shanty given a makeover by Metallica, but still recognizable with its Celtic roots.

Take-Out Pizza

Christmas Eve has ARRIVED! 🎅  So it's time for some Christmas Appetizers before tonight's Feast, which you will note is Take-Out Pizza.  A couple of reasons for this.  First, It is a New York Shity tradition to eat Take-Out on Christmas Eve.  This because you are bizzy preparing food for the Christmas Dinner the next day.  The usual Take-Out choice in NY for Xmas when I lived there was Chinese, but any takeout was fine.  We're doing Pizza Take-Out tonight since AZ suggested that choice back a ways in the thread.

You also may note that tomorrow's Christmas Dinner isn't the common Turkey or Ham or Prime Rib most Amerikans go for these days, were different on the Diner so we're having GOOSE!  Don't bother trying to get a Goose at your local Food Superstore though, they never carry that even at Christmas time.  You'll have to order online.  At the Diner, we have our own flock of Geese migrating by our SUNstead regularly, so it's not a problem to nail a couple for Christmas Dinner and throw them in the Walk-In Freezer at the Diner.

🎵 Solstice Festival Music: Christmas Song - Angel
« Reply #58 on: December 24, 2018, 02:58:13 AM »
Christmas Eve has ARRIVED, so it's out with the Druids and in with the Christians for the next couple of days.  JDW led us of with a GREAT traditional  ::) Xmas tune, I will lead off with my personal Diner traditional Christmas Music tune from Angel, who billed themselves as the Good Guys to the Bad Guys of Kiss.  The Bad Guys lasted longer and did a lot better though.
