Why “skoolies” are one of the fastest-growing subsets of the van life community

I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world.
You don’t know what it is but its there, like a splinter in your mind

A fair number of these hit the market around here, and I still look at RV porn on CL occasionally. I think they're popular because the used bus market is cheaper for school buses than other types. My belief is you would get more bang for your buck with a real pro conversion, and lots of them are cheap too. Rich people want slide-outs and humongous coaches, so the passenger bus conversions from say the 90's....pretty cheap.

You can buy the cheap skoolie but you'll put a lot into it to make it function. Not cheap in the long run, in my view.

Like a boat. Not worth owning one unless you do live in it as your primary dwelling. Needs to be self-contained and have solar so you can boondock instead of plugging in. Plugging in makes the cost of RV living go way up.

If you can find one with a solid rebuilt 2 stroke diesel it'll probably outlive the availability of fuel.  Like this one.

RE, what did you pay nightly for the campsite up at Denali?

What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well.
