Next, America builds Trump Towers Temples in every town of over 50,000 people. It's infrastructure, baby!

The New Trump Monument in Washington DC will be erected next to the Lincoln Memorial.....but of course it'll be taller and gold plated, and Lincoln's head will be redone to show him smiling up at The Donald.
What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well.

My co-teachers and I would show this film each year as part of the 6th grade curriculum in the Unitarian Universalist Sunday school program. I stopped teaching about a decade ago.

But I would take a more biblical approach today. Yes, we are heading for a day of reckoning.

I was raised as a Unitarian-Universalist.  :icon_sunny:

I'm not surprised to hear that from your autobiographical sketches! My wife and I were married by Bob Hemstreet when he was the pastor of the UU church in Flushing. After we moved to Long Island we raised our 2 kids in the UU Congregation at Shelter Rock. My wife still teaches the 3 and 4 year-olds class in the RE program there.

I've been following your work for a good number of years now, after having read your contributions to the Burning Platform. Especially Subway Swan Song. I really appreciate your point of view.

Regarding religion and spirituality, we are definitely in Kali Yuga per the Hindu tradition.

UU of Flushing was my church!  Rev. Hemstreet was the minister when I got back from Brazil.  Rev. Boeke was before him and dedicated me into the church when I was born.  Our house was only 3 blocks away from the church. when we moved back.

What years did you attend UUoF?  Maybe we met at some point.

My wife and I attended fairly regularly from 1990 to 1994 after Rev. Hemstreet married us. We lived in Sunnyside during that time. Neither of us was involved with any committees during that time.

I really liked the quaint church building with the wooden rafters.

We really should mention at this time that Tim Berners Lee, inventor of the www, is a UU.

I no longer attended the church services in those years.  My dad the pigman was President of the congregation in the late 1950's, when he was climbing the corporate ladder.  It was good for his resume.  After returning from Brazil, I attended sporadically through the mid 70s when I went to college.  Since then, no organized religion for me, and I morphed into my own version of Panentheism.

Find other famous UUs here.
