Trump Has Begun the Process of Selling Out Rudy Giuliani
It might not make a difference, but anyone still arguing for the defense on Ukraine now looks even dumber.

And, right before the holiday season officially begins, the last piece of the puzzle locks into place, and the last alibi falls apart like an overcooked turkey. From The New York Times:

Lawyers from the White House counsel’s office told Mr. Trump in late August about the complaint, explaining that they were trying to determine whether they were legally required to give it to Congress, the people said. The revelation could shed light on Mr. Trump’s thinking at two critical points under scrutiny by impeachment investigators: his decision in early September to release $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine and his denial to a key ambassador around the same time that there was a “quid pro quo” with Kyiv. Mr. Trump used the phrase before it had entered the public lexicon in the Ukraine affair.

Now we have the whole thing. The president* used military aid money already appropriated by Congress to shakedown the government of Ukraine, an ally, in order to get Ukraine to help him ratfck one of his prospective opponents in the 2020 presidential election. As last week’s testimony confirmed, everyone in this massive loop knew this at the time. Then someone, and we still don’t know who, took a complaint to the intelligence community’s inspector general. This was at the end of July. And, by August, they had briefed the president*, who, having been caught borscht-handed, released the aid in early September. Every episode in that chronicle is an impeachable offense, and the entire timeline is one very big one.

Remember what Rep. Adam Schiff said last week, when the Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee tried to argue that nothing untoward had happened because the president* eventually released the aid?

"My Republican colleagues, all they seem to be upset about with this is not that the president sought an investigation of his political rival, not that he withheld a White House meeting and $400 million in aid we all passed in a bipartisan basis to pressure Ukraine to do those investigations. Their objection is that he got caught. Their objection is that someone blew the whistle, and they would like this whistleblower identified, and the president wants this whistleblower punished. That's their objection. Not that the president engaged in this conduct, but that he got caught.”

Now, even that most threadbare irrelevancy is denied to all but the most fervent members of the cult. The president* released the aid because his lawyers told him he’d been caught. On this matter, at least, the case is airtight, and there is no daylight to be found. The president*, among others, is stone busted. That may matter. It may not. But anyone arguing for the defense on the Ukraine matter is bound to look like even more of an idiot than they already do, and those people look like the succulent, ripe fruit of the Stupid Tree already. That’s something, anyway.

Trump’s Ukraine defenders now look even dumber.

As this news was breaking, the president* was having another one of his traveling wankfests, this one in Sunrise, Florida. His trolley left the track early and never returned. From NBC News:

"The same maniacs are pushing the deranged impeachment. Think of this. Impeachment. Impeachment. A witch hunt. The same as before," he said referring to former Special counsel Robert Mueller's report. "And they're pushing that impeachment witch hunt. And a lot of bad things are happening to them. Because you see what's happening in the polls? Everybody said: that's really bullshit.”

He looked awful and sounded worse. There’s something hinky about one of his arms. His voice was raspy. I’m beginning to think it was a bad idea to let the story of his Midnight Ride to Walter Reed fade as quickly as it did. Before the rally, the president* did an interview with Bill O’Reilly in which he began the process of selling out Rudy Giuliani. From The Daily Beast:

Asked point-blank if Giuliani was acting on his behalf in trying to dig up dirt on former vice president Joe Biden—an issue now at the heart of an impeachment inquiry—Trump said, “No, I didn’t direct him, but he is a warrior, he is a warrior...I know that he was going to go to Ukraine and I think he cancelled the trip. But Rudy has other clients, other than me. He’s done a lot of work in Ukraine over the years.”

That’s his story and he’s sticking to it. For now, anyway.

HUGELY INCRIMINATING PHONE RECORDS SUGGEST RUDY GIULIANI IS F---ED
The presidentís lawyer should probably get a lawyer.

Rudy Giuliani
BY WILLIAM B. PLOWMAN/NBC/NBC NEWSWIRE/NBCUNIVERSAL/GETTY IMAGES.

On Tuesday, House Democrats released the Intelligence Committee’s 300-page impeachment report, which concludes, based on over two months of private and public testimony from career diplomats and other administration officials, that Donald Trump “placed his own personal and political interests above the national interests of the United States,” sought to undermine American democracy, and, in doing so, endangered national security. For a guy who has insisted that he acted with the utmost integrity when he attempted to extort Ukraine to smear his political rivals, it isn’t a good look! But Trump isn’t the only one for whom the report should be causing some gastrointestinal distress right about now; his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, has also emerged from the account looking like a full-on crook, a portrayal that probably would concern him were his brain not atrophying since he left the New York City mayor’s office in 2001.

Much of the damning information comes in the form of phone records. According to logs obtained by the committee from AT&T, Giuliani was in extremely frequent communication with the White House, specifically the Office of Management and Budget, where acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, of Ukraine “drug deal” fame, is still director. For instance, Giuliani spoke with unidentified individuals at OMB and the White House on April 12, 23, and 24. An OMB call on the latter date lasted over 13 minutes and occurred just one day before Ambassador Marie Yovanovitchwas told to return from Kiev. Following many of these communications, the Week notes, Giuliani placed calls to or received calls from his indicted associateLev Parnas, whom Giuliani allegedly dispatched to Ukraine to dig up dirt on Joe Biden and his son. Another call of particular interest was the 13-minute one between Giuliani and OMB on August 8, which occurred just one day after Ambassador Kurt Volkermessaged Giuliani about a meeting with Ukrainian presidential aide Andriy Yermak and a “visit” the two had discussed.

Last month the Washington Postreported that a confidential White House review of Trump’s decision to put a hold on aid to Ukraine “has turned up hundreds of documents that reveal extensive efforts to generate an after-the-fact justification for the decision and a debate over whether the delay was legal,” on which OMB led the charge. In early August, for instance, Mulvaney asked acting OMB director Russell Vought to provide an update on the legal rationale for holding up the aid and how much longer it could be delayed. According to the justification from the OMB lawyers—which the State Department and National Security Council disputed—withholding the aid was legal so long as they referred to it as a “temporary” hold. Was Giuliani strategizing with someone at OMB re: the delayed aid? Who’s to say!

In addition to the frequent calls with OMB, logs show a number of calls with an individual whose number only appears as “-1” in phone records, which at least one former Justice Department official believes is Trump’s cell phone. Obviously, it’s not at all surprising that Giuliani—who is already the subject of numerous investigations—was in close contact with Trump, but it’s yet another data point that blows a hole in the president’s “Giuliani acted alone” defense, which no one believed the first time he trotted it out.

Giuliani does not appear to have commented on the report, but if we give it time, he’ll probably text something nonsensical and grammatically offensive to a bunch of reporters about how this is all just a distraction to run cover for Biden. Trump, who is in the U.K., will presumably log on to Twitter around 5 a.m. local time for an incoherent rant about how Adam Schiff should be tried for treason, and an aside about how he’s never actually met Giuliani but hears he’s a nice guy.

Oh, yes. And he should have recused himself  prior to the hearings, because the info was provided to him (as it was to all committee members) before they started. Either he or his staff apparently failed to review it. Or maybe that's why he's so damned mad and bringing frivolous lawsuits: Under committee rules, he would have known that Schiff subpoenaed call records for Giuliani and his associates and that it would turn up all these contacts with him.

Nunes' tears are delicious.

The sheer arrogance of the powerful is hard to grok. You know Rudy Giuliani surely didn't need to end up like this. Pure opportunism in action.

Nunes is a total fake and always has been, Another example of what the lust for power does to people.

Almost all these Trump guys (not Nunes, he was always willing to be corrupt) started out not liking him.....but then they suddenly all learned to love him when they saw him get the votes.

Waiting to see Lindsey Graham take it in the you-know-where...although....(insert the obvious homo reference here).

As you k now well, I'm in full agreement with all of the above, and just waiting for Lyndsay to wipe the Trump off her face. And then Graham surprises with this:

Rudy Giuliani Teams Up With a Seth Rich Conspiracy Theorist to Save Trump

Rudy Giuliani Teams Up With a Seth Rich Conspiracy Theorist to Save Trump
The presidentís attorney has traveled to some odd places and sought the help of some colorful characters to defend his client. But Chanel Rion might be the strangest of all.

Will Sommer

Rudy Giuliani has found a new ally in his globe-trotting attempts to fight President Trump’s impeachment, teaming up with a cable news reporter and conspiracy-theory political cartoonist who has suggested that Hillary Clinton killed Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich and that Democrats eat people.

In his quest to defend Trump and dig up dirt on his political opponents, Giuliani has enlisted a wide variety of characters in both the United States and Europe. Now he’s placing a big bet on Chanel Rion, a One America News host who dabbles in bizarre conspiracy theories.

On Wednesday, The New York Timesreported that Giuliani traveled to Hungary and Ukraine this week to set up interviews with former Ukrainian prosecutors who have been critical of former Vice President Joe Biden. The interviews are meant for a series on pro-Trump cable channel One America News hosted by Rion, a reporter, anti-feminist children’s book author, and political cartoonist.

Rion’s show, which takes Giuliani and his allies at their word that Trump did nothing wrong by pressuring the Ukrainian government to investigate Biden and his family, has become a key part of Giuliani’s attempt to rally Trump’s base. But Rion herself has a colorful background that includes one prominent retracted story and support for several conspiracy theories.

Rion has been best known on the right since May, when she was hired as a White House correspondent for OAN, the upstart pro-Trump cable network that frequently clashes with rival Fox News.

In October, Rion claimed that former FBI lawyer Lisa Page had an affair with former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. Rion’s vaguely sourced report went viral in corners of the right-wing blogosphere that has become obsessed with Page’s sex life and her connection to the investigation into the Trump campaign and Russia, but Rion’s network quietly retracted the entire story later that month.

Rion didn’t respond to a request for comment from The Daily Beast.

Before joining OAN in May, Rion developed some level of notoriety on the internet for her bizarre political cartoons, in a self-published set of online cartoons dubbed “The Left Edge.” In one, Rion promoted the conspiracy theory that Clinton was behind the unsolved murder of DNC staffer Rich, which police have concluded was a botched robbery. In another, she referenced “spirit cooking”—the baseless claim, popular with believers in the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, that top Democratic officials are involved in Satanic cannibalistic sacrifices.

Not all of Rion’s cartoons promote conspiracy theories, but many of them are still strange. In one, former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), dressed as an alien, comes to Earth to criticize then-FBI Director James Comey. Reid is depicted as arriving in a UFO inexplicably labeled “Planet Zoombo.” In another, she called on “armed citizens to defend America from violent left,” claiming without evidence that Democrats were plotting assassinations.

In one cartoon, Rion portrays the Academy Awards’ Oscar statue as a woman named “Oscareena.”

“He claims his name is Oscareena and he wants the keys to the little girls’ peek-a-boo room,” one character in the cartoon says.

Rion’s website claims that she has “become known as the best political illustrator in the country for constitutional conservative and anti-leftist causes,” but it’s not clear that her “Left Edge” cartoons have circulated much on the broader right. Another website operated by her fiancé claimed that people all over the world are wearing T-shirts and putting up posters of her art. Rion didn’t respond to a request for proof of that claim.

“Rion claims that her family left the United States in disgust after Bill Clinton beat Bob Dole in the 1996 presidential race, setting out to see for themselves ‘what a debauched idea socialism was.’”

Rion has also made some interesting assertions about her background. In a biography posted on her website, Rion claims that her family left the United States in disgust after Bill Clinton beat Bob Dole in the 1996 presidential race, setting out to see for themselves “what a debauched idea socialism was.”

After describing a stay in South Korea “a few miles” from the demilitarized zone on the border with North Korea, Rion takes her narrative to France, where she finds herself in a classroom with “presumably communistic” fellow students. Rion’s bio page claims that her family initially lived in a mill but left when “the miller quit.”

“When winter came,” the biography reads, “the miller quit and we moved to an unheated stone maison in the hills of a communist farming village in the mountain region of France where we bought goat cheese and baguettes every day from a monastery on the way home from school and where dad again swore we were never returning to the U.S. Chanel spent her first grade year not speaking English at school where she heard not a word about politics from her presumably communistic first-grade French classmates.”

Since then, Rion claims to have produced a series of mystery books called Mystery by Design, meant for “traditional girls,” that have been “offered as language trainers in grim and dedicated rote English-learning venues including China and South Korea.” On her website, Rion writes that her books stand “apart from the gender-hostile, Hollywood ‘rip and hate’ spirit of radical feminism.”

But when a Wonkette investigation of Rion’s claims about her books in 2018 turned up no reference to the books outside Rion’s own website and no evidence anywhere that the books are for sale or actually exist. Rion didn’t respond to a request for comment about her books.

Rion shot to some level of broader fame on the internet in 2018 after her fiancé, then-Missouri Senate candidate Courtland Sykes, cited her cooking him dinner every night at 6 p.m. in a bizarre rant about feminist “she devils.”

“I want to come home to a home-cooked dinner at 6 every night, one that she fixes and one that I expect one day to have daughters learn to fix after they become traditional homemakers and family wives,” Sykes said in a statement.

Sykes, who had been a Missouri resident for less than a year before he launched his bid, struggled to explain his connection to the state. At one point, he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that his family had vacationed in the Ozarks, then refused to say exactly where.

Sykes went on to badly lose the primary to future Sen. Josh Hawley (R), coming in eighth place with about 2 percent of the vote.

Exposed: the money trail running from the Kremlin to Lev Parnas to Rudy Giuliani to Donald Trump

For weeks now, the various pieces of the puzzle have been coming together – and what’s going on here keeps becoming more obvious. Now, thanks to the final piece of the puzzle, we can draw a straight money line from the Kremlin to Donald Trump, based entirely on publicly available information.

Earlier this month it was reported that Lev Parnas received a million dollar bank deposit from an account in Russia in September. Today, federal prosecutors confirmed in court that the million dollars came from Kremlin oligarch Dmitry Firtash, who has long been suspected of having funded the Ukraine antics of Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani.

When you take the million dollar payoff from the Kremlin to Lev Parnas, and combine it with the half million dollar payoff from Lev Parnas’ company to Rudy Giuliani, you can draw a straight money line from the Kremlin to Rudy. When you add in that Rudy is providing legal services to Donald Trump for free, it means the Kremlin is funding Rudy’s representation of Trump. In other words, Putin didn’t just fund Trump’s Ukraine extortion scandal; Putin is paying for Trump’s legal defense.

This changes a few things. First, it’s a reminder that even though two articles of impeachment have been finalized against Donald Trump (for now), the investigatory process is still ongoing, and the criminal scandal is still unfolding. Second, it places Lev Parnas in even more legal jeopardy, and could motivate him to provide additional cooperation beyond the evidence he’s turned over to the House. Finally, it’s the latest reminder that with Trump, all roads really do lead to Putin.

Will this make a bit of difference in the Impeachment Show Trial?  Highly unlikely.  Will it make a difference in the 2020 POTUS election?  Only slightly less unlikely.

Maybe not.

But it would if anybody considered the evidence. Did you sift through that .pdf? I did, and I heard myself say, "Holy Shit!" Everything but photos of dead bodies. And those may be coming.

The only way it can not make a difference is if they do not permit new evidence. Which I will admit is likely. I don't look for anything like a fair trial out of Nurtle McTurtle.

I fully appreciate that not everyone has the same appetite for following this story. But I've been intent on following the truth of the matter, and trying to get to the story behind the MSM bullshit and spin.

If you follow the above link, you eventually get to Lutsenko, a former Prosecutor general of Ukraine and the apparent originator of a lot of the "evidence" manufactured against the Bidens. If you want to understand the seamy underbelly of this Ukraine issue, you have to understand Lutsenko.

Here is the best article I have found to date. It is complicated, and nuanced, but a damned good job of repertorial restraint.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor Behind Trumpís Impeachment
How the efforts of Yuriy Lutsenko and Rudy Giuliani to smear Joe Biden led to a Presidential crisis.

It's pretty clear (to me, anyhow) that by luring Trump into the Ukraine rat's nest, Giuliani has ended up damaging him more seriously than Robert Mueller or James Comey ever did. Well done, Rudy 9-11!

Jim Wright's take:

It's becoming increasingly obvious that the President of the United States, via his personal lawyer, plotted against an American ambassador.

The evidence is overwhelming and utterly damning.
Rudy Giuliani literally coordinated surveillance on Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch. One text, from Giuliani's subordinate Robert Hyde to Lev Parnas, LITERALLY described Ukrainian underworld figures willing to "help" with Yovanovitch for "a price"

Verbatim: "They are willing to help if we/you would like a price."

That picture of Trump? The guy with him is Robert Hyde.

A bit later, Trump talked to Ukraine President Zelensky. Which is what started the whole impeachment. Trump HIMSELF provided a summary of that call. In that summary, Trump says to Zelensky, "She's going to go through some things." He was specifically, according to his own "transcript," talking about ambassador Yovanovitch.

She's going to go through some things.

He said that, KNOWING Rudy Giuliani was engaged in surveillance on the ambassador and that the Ukrainian underworld was involved.

Shortly thereafter, Yovanovitch was told to leave Ukraine immediately over concerns about her safety. Threats against her safety that were specifically generated BY THE WHITE HOUSE.

Then, last night at his rally, instead of explaining any of this, Trump instead went on a tear against light bulbs, dishwashers, fridges, toilets, and showers. Like you do if you're completely sane. Right?

Of course, there should be no surprises here. This is how business does business. This is American business every day, right here. This is who Trump is. A crooked mobbed up businessman from New York.

You know what I'm gonna say: If you elect a businessman, then you're gonna get the business.

And you're gonna get it good and hard.

But, it's worse than that.

Because this morning we're sitting here, watching this shitshow. Literally watching Trump plot the death of his own ambassador while the Senate Majority Leader openly flies top cover for him and Congress openly refuses to do its Constitutionally mandated duty. We're watching all of this unfold, right? In real time. Right now. Our government utterly failing not only the country but the entire world. We're watching this, right?

And instead of forcefully and definitely taking the lead, Democratic Candidates are right now petulantly throwing shit at each other like spoiled rotten children absolutely determined to lose once again to Donald Trump.

Unbelievable.

Exposed: the money trail running from the Kremlin to Lev Parnas to Rudy Giuliani to Donald Trump

For weeks now, the various pieces of the puzzle have been coming together Ė and whatís going on here keeps becoming more obvious.

When you take the million dollar payoff from the Kremlin to Lev Parnas, and combine it with the half million dollar payoff from Lev Parnasí company to Rudy Giuliani, you can draw a straight money line from the Kremlin to Rudy. When you add in that Rudy is providing legal services to Donald Trump for free, it means the Kremlin is funding Rudyís representation of Trump. In other words, Putin didnít just fund Trumpís Ukraine extortion scandal; Putin is paying for Trumpís legal defense.

This changes a few things. First, itís a reminder that even though two articles of impeachment have been finalized against Donald Trump (for now), the investigatory process is still ongoing, and the criminal scandal is still unfolding. Second, it places Lev Parnas in even more legal jeopardy, and could motivate him to provide additional cooperation beyond the evidence heís turned over to the House. Finally, itís the latest reminder that with Trump, all roads really do lead to Putin.

BUT......Hunter Biden!!!!
