The Current Chilean Collapse in Progress
« on: November 30, 2019, 11:13:21 AM »
So, I ran across this today......I still don't watch TV, and I don't follow the news closely, although I have gotten a smattering of Trump Impeachment News from the car radio...and I'm following some people on Utube who have things to say about Hong Kong....which seems to be on the collapse front line.

I had heard one or two radio reports about riots in Chile, but not too much.

I decided to check on some of my gold and silver pundits that I haven't read in many months......and ran across this by accident.

Clive Maund is one of those Sovereign Citizen types, a gold bug who has lived in Chile for years( to avoid taxes, I presume). I'm not posting this because I necessarily agree completely with his Zero Hedge POV.  He'd fit in there.....I guess he isn't on their radar, perhaps because he isn't that prolific. Most of his stuff is behind a paywall. One I don't pay for.

But he does live in Chile and I think this is his very honest opinion.....remember that he is an ex-pat Brit who left London many years ago now, long before Brexit was dreamed of by anyone. He is  a successful guy with money, but he isn't tied to the power structure in Chile.

This is a dark cautionary tale, with plenty to scare the bejeezus out of any of us, regardless of whether we might call ourself liberal, conservative, or whatever.

These collapse hot spots are far from where we live and breathe, but....well......I'll let you connect your own dots if you're so amind.

I've posted a few articles about Chile.  Just about every country in SA is dissolving politically.  This will make it to the FSoA in due time.

Also living in Chile is our old friend the Inflationista Gonzolo Lira.  Wonder how he's doing?

Nice to hear from you Eddie... Wow that is an angry pro eugenics kind of post... Why exactly is he there anyways? I have inlaws from Chile and lets just say having all their property seized, being beaten, thrown in jail and forced to flee with tens of thousands of their peers from Pinochet their take would be different. I have not quizzed them on recent developments.
If its important then try something, fail, disect, learn from it, try again, and again and again until it kills you or you succeed.

The central problem for Chile is that after the Pinochet era the country has overreacted in the direction of extreme tolerance and liberalism so that the pendulum has swung to the other extreme, and the economy is a strange mix of the forces of raw capitalism and socialism.

This shows the delusion.  If this were true there would be no riots and the five families would not be in charge.  The statement is diametrically opposed to reality.  This man is deluded.  The truth is things are coming down to crunch time when the fact that there is not enough to go around begins to bite everyone in the ass.  Chili was privatized and is now showing the world that privatization does not work.

No doubt this is very true.  But it shows how a rich foreigner looks at the situation. Everybody has their own perspective. Everybody is tribal.

Eugenics is one of those ugly words that triggers people to invoke Godwin's Law. Sounds really bad.  I wonder if there is a term for the natural selection for stupidity, perhaps brought on by the brief abundance of FF's over a century or two. There should be one. I see a lot more children born to dumb people than smart people. Does that have an effect on Chilean politics?

It seems to me in 'Murica it's contributory.

Pinochet disappeared a whole lot of people, and I was never a fan of his. Gimme a break. . In fact , I never had a problem with Allende. But as you know, the CIA didn't give a shit what left-leaning US college students thought about that in 1973. (Hell, i was in high school). To me, there is no doubt this is one more example of the predictable results of our fine American foreign policy, played out over a couple of generations.

But how many 'Muricans could tell you who Allende was, or who took him out? One in ten? One in a hundred? (i'd guess you'd have to go to maybe 1:1000).

None of that means that Maund is wrong about the likelihood of another Pinochet stepping up....or a Che....it won't be a centrist that brings people together.

I'm just scratching Chile off my sail-to list. Too bad, I hear the fjords are beautiful.

FFs for sure help the weak to survive and herd quality suffers.  It is indisputable.

But:
  • Natural selection takes more time.
  • What gets selected for is subject to dynamic considerations.  A stable environment held constant relative to generation time is required or nothing can get selected for.
Under ideal conditions of temperature and pressure the organism will grow without limit.

By the time you actually jump in a sailboat, you will be able to cross anywhere off your list of sail-tos.

Not so sure about that, but possibly so. We shall see. Just depends, really. At least I can still consider it, at this point.

Fantasizing is a fabulous relaxation skill to have to handle collapse.

Try playing Vikings: War of Clans.  :icon_sunny:
https://plarium.com/en/strategy-games/vikings-war-of-clans/game/

I have a great Doomstead now at L26, tied for highest in my Clan.  Another Big Battle starts this afternoon.

Vik L24 2019 11 14 666 Town
Vik L24 2019 11 14 666 Town

I built it starting from Zero.  I'm a Billionaire now in Resources and one of the top Warlords in this Clan.  But I have ethics. I don't hit on small peacefull towns, just Invaders, Ghosts and any dirtbags from other Clans who hit on us first.

If you travel in your mind, you don't have to physically go anywhere at all.

Knowing about what happened to Allende was one of my ends of innocence.

Definitely one of my way-stations on the road to collapse. Drove home the reality of US foreign policy to a 23 year old with shit for brains, as well how much Henry Kissinger was the spawn of Satan. The US was not going to tolerate a Marxist in Chile; but a fascist was just fine. Pinochet was Nixon's man. So they sponsored a coup.

We'd later learn that coup plotting, torture and wet work were the curriculum at the School of the Americas.

And an added bonus, Chile got the classical unrestrained “free market” policies of Milton Friedman, enforced by the military junta, which yielded a bumper crop of  human rights violations, institutionalized brutality, and drastic control and suppression of every form of meaningful dissent.

The fact is, the truth of what happened in Chile was not that hard to find inside the US. Another fact is that no-one cared.

Not long after Allende was snuffed I was a young man working as a bellman in an upper end hotel in Seattle.  One weekend the damnest thing happened.  All sorts of fancy gold encrusted military uniforms showed up from South America.  Seriously I could not believe there were so many countries in South America but I guess it looked like there where more because Armies Navies and Air Forces were represented.

I asked a general what was going on.  I had gold on my uniform too.  He said:

This is The School of America.

Then he started quizzing me like he had just arrested me in Sao Whatever.  Oh you work'  Oh you go to school.  Oh you like pussy.  Being as we were in Seattle it was important for him to determine I was not gay and he made sure.  Having passed all the tests the general became friendly and let me know I'd be very welcome in his country if I ever wanted to visit.  Wherever it was?  Maybe Ecuador but really I'm guessing.  If I had learned some Spanish, who knows what adventures I might have had.

But I'm happy with the adventures I've had.  I'd like to learn Spanish but I think I'm very happy I did not know any at the time.  A lot of bad shit has gone down in South America since I witnessed the big brass of all the then in-favor banana republics get a weekend of education.   I could have been sucked into some kind of Contra bullshit, but It was a sight to see.  On the jackets and caps in the room there must have been pounds of gold and I mean the real shit.  The generals had uniforms that would put a marching band to shame.  They wore so much metal it had to slow them down.

Back in the 60s it was great to be a Rich Amerikan in SA.  Maids, Cook, Driver etc.  I learned to speak Portuguese quickly and easily because I was still in the Language Acquisitiion years.  I often had to translate for my mother. Dad the Pigman had studied it before he got posted there by Chase Manhattan (now JP Morgan Chase).

I learned Spanish later in HS and just living in NYC where in many neighborhoods that was the usual language spoken.  Both are quite rusty now though, I haven't used them in years.  I can still read them OK, but speaking is halting at best.  If I did go ExPat to SA though, I expect they would come back in a few months of immersion.

However, NO FUCKING WAY (NFW) I would go ExPat to SA now, even if I was healthy.  Folks like Doug Casey with his Casa Estancia is fucking NUTS.  Morris Berman is nuts too.  Everything south of the Rio Grande is well along the road to Collapse, a good 5 years ahead of the FSoA I would guesstimate.
