Jerry Jeff Walker, RIP
« on: October 24, 2020, 10:12:37 AM »
Not just a music icon....but a real cultural influencer in my town.....one of the greats of my generation.

His live album, Viva Teriligua was a true one-of-a-kind . Recorded live (actually in Luckenbach) without studio support of any kind.....it inspired hundreds, if not thousands of other musicians and put Luckenbach Texas on the map....It's still good after nearly 50 years.

Only JJW tune I I ever got hooked on was Mr. BoJangles.

Many people consider it his best.....and it was his trademark.

My favorite version was by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band though.

Thanks for this.
Well known in Oz but not heard much anymore.
I only ever knew the Bob Dylan and Sammy Davis Jr versions. (I just assumed it was a Dylan original)
I think I heard a Neil Diamond version too on a live album my brother had, and now I think of it Robbie Williams did a good version too!
Covered  by everyone it seems now I give it some thought.
Its as if the song was written for Sammy.
Did Sinatra and Martin cover it too?
Great lyrics.
