Now for something different. This suggested by Regina M. as a reply to me recent TWID article.

Not what I would ordinarily listen to, but compelling nonetheless. By Tool.
Expresses our times well, and could become the Diner anthem...

That sure was out of the ordinary Surly, to say the least.

Great imagery and painful hopeless anger at the current scene is how I took it. Thanks to you and Regina for the posting.

I just watched and heard two members of Metallica play the National Anthem to start off game 5 of the NBA championship.  The crowd and military folks at the game loved it.

Indeed GO.  I was listening to NPR at work yesterday and they did a piece with Glen Campbell.  Both the interviewer and Glen raved about the song writing ability of Jimmy Webb, specifically this line from "Wichita Lineman":

And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time

On a more personal note, my wife left this morning for a one night trip to meet her best friend (from Jr High) at the beach.  I rarely buy iTunes songs, so when I do, I ask my wife to purchase it for us because I can never remember the password.  So last night I asked her to buy this song for us.  She knew this was her "send off" song to remember me by while she's away.

It sure is a classic JoeP.

My heart was broken when I watched the recent programs of Glen singing with his daughter watching over him from his tragic alzheimers disease. Some folks are just so gifted with a special unique form of talent, he was one of them.

How's the back??

The back is better.  Physical therapy has helped, but I have problems sitting for over twenty minutes.  My desk at work is an adjustable height desk and I don't push button #1 (sitting setting) very much.  It's a slow process and my back will never be "great" or even "normal".  But right now, I'm happy with slow and steady improvement from the state of intense inflammation that I was in a few weeks ago.  Thanks for asking.

Back problems are tough. My brother has them and gets relief from getting in a pool. Something about the water pressure he claims that eases his problem.

There's worse things to have. It's easy to say, I know, but true. Hope it's the only ailment you ever to have to deal with.
