Diner TV: Coming Soon to Your Laptop- My Dinner with RE
« on: August 14, 2013, 09:48:18 PM »

BRAINSTORM today while wandering around Freddie Myers picking up some Beer and doing my usual cruise around the aisles to see what good Prep Items to buy.

There was a really cool looking device on a Display Rack for Cool Gizmos, and it hit me how I could use this device together with another of my Cool Gizmos to start making some Homegrown Diner Videos for Diner TV.  :icon_mrgreen:  Said new CG is currently charging up here, and I have briefly tested it out and it seems to work fabulously!

Now, I don't really think I will name the new Diner TV Feature "My Dinner With RE".  I just haven't come up with a real good title for the Show yet.  After I air a couple of Episodes, I'll open it up for Diner Suggestions on what a good Title for the Show would be.

I'm hoping to produce the first Episode sometime over the next few days, I might even have one Ready for Prime Time by the Weekend.  :icon_sunny:

No further Hints here on the nature of the Show or what the new Cool Gizmo is, and I do need to do a full Test on it to make sure that all the technology will work right.  If it does all work as I think it will though, we will have a fun New Feature on the Diner.

My old buddies in Pirate Radio would be proud I think.

PUMP UP THE VOLUME ON THE DOOMSTEAD DINER.

Nah, Pirate Radio died by the end of the 80s, maybe a little trickle remained in the 90s.

Alan Weiner did buy a legit Radio Station in Maine, don't know if he still operates it.  I lost contact with the whole Pirate Radio crowd 25 years ago or so.

The Blog Article is PUMP UP THE VOLUME.  It's where my Everybody Knows Leonard Cohen Theme Song comes from.  The idea hit me after El Gallinazo made a post referencing the song. The rest as they say, is History.  LOL.

All right, Godfather RE,

I love that article.  :) Let me ask you this though: Knowing Randy and Allan, how do you say the world would be better without Tesla, etc?

That is a very difficult question.

That science and technology was able to create such inventions is a marvelous thing.  I personally have been a Gadget Freak since the first Transistor Radios started getting shipped over from Japan.  Yes, I am just about old enough to remember that, though not old enough to remember when the first households got their Vacuum Tube Radios and TVs.  Old enough also to remember when TV was all Black & White, just barely.

I wish in my heart of hearts that we could keep said technologies, without all the nasty blowback that results from the rest of Industrialization, and perhaps we can in the best of scenarios here.  On balance though, I think I would have preferred to live in a world where Communication came between all present at the Campfire, and where Newz of the World came via a few Journeyers who occassionally showed up to tell tales from far away.  I imagine myself in my dreams as just such a Journeyer and Storyteller.

In this world, in this time, I was not born to such a life, though I ended up mimicking it in many ways with my nomadic existence OTR.  In this iteration of my life on Earth, I tell the story on the Internet, and that is a good thing for me.  Probably not so good for the Earth, considering the rare earth mineral mining and vast amount of energy it takes to get these words across the blogosphere, but still good for me, and I hope the readers too.

What goes round comes round though, and as the Saudi Saying goes:

Quote from: Old Saudi Saying
My father rode a camel, I drive a car, my son flys a jet plane, his son will ride a camel.

So perhaps I will end my life telling stories around the Campfire at the Foxstead, of the Long Journey of Reverse Engineer through the Age of Oil.

I could not hope to end it in any better way.

Thank you Eddie.  I was pleased myself with how this comment came out, it made me tear up, and that is what tells me I struck the emotional chord i seek in my writing.  Doesn't happen that often, but when it does I am happy I am a writer.

BTW folks, contest is cancelled for naming the new Diner TV Show. I went to bed thinking about how I could start the show without having a name for it, this didn't seem right.  Sort of like writing a Blog without a Title.   Came to me in my dreams last night as such things often do when I go to sleep pondering on something, so now I got the name for it.  It's a play on an old TV Series name, one NOT mentioned in the recent Top 13 TV Series thread.  Anybody guesses the series before I air the first Episode wins a Diner  Kewpie Doll.

Hint: One of the actors starring in the series was among the most successful of TV stars ever.  Guess away Diners. :icon_mrgreen:

Larry Hagman (I Dream of Jeannie/Dallas) was one of the biggest TV Stars ever, so good guess.

However, no.  :icon_mrgreen:

The Waltons      :cwmddd:

The Waltons were mentioned in the Top 13 TV Series thread.  This series was NOT mentioned.

I can see I need to drop another HINT here. You guys are way off the mark.  Action/Adventure series circa 1960s.
