People's Climate March (310,000 people -- estimated)
« on: September 22, 2014, 02:50:31 PM »
I was away from all media (camping) over the weekend. But in the back of my mind was the People's Climate March. I was looking forward to learning about it upon return to civilization.

Apparently there was a BIG turnout!

So ...

What do you think the impact of this march has been?

Sunday commuters in New York City became pissed off while trying to get to work?

Not much. NYPD hospitaliity for some. MSM ignored the whole and minimized the numbers, witness this report.

102 people arrested or summoned in Flood Wall Street protest in Lower Manhattan

The peaceful arrests came Monday night when protestors near Wall Street ignored orders from police to disperse. Most of the arrests or summonses were for disorderly conduct, said an NYPD official. The protest came a day after more than 100,000 people rallied in Midtown for the People’s Climate March.

What I think is, that the march was a hell of a lot better than nothing, and that if the movement persists and grows, that it could lead to some real change eventually. So I don't make light of it.

But at the same time I do agree with those who say that not even the protesters really get it, what the reality is on climate change, and how radically different things would have to be in order to make much difference.

We need to outlaw cars. What's the chance of that happening? Zero, at the moment.

Still, any public hue and cry is good. We need more.

We need to outlaw cars.

We need to outlaw cars that use an ICE. Down with Big Oil and liquid fuels! Use cleaner, domestically produced and distributed fuels, stop the extortion stores from shipping hard earned income to somewhere else now! Buy American!

Talk about solving two problems at once. God Bless those fighting the good fight!!

Got that Chevy yet Eddie?

This is utterly disingenuous bullshit.

The same companies fracking up Natural Gas frack up Oil as well.  In fact, since the price of NG stays stubbornly low, fracking up Oil is slightly less negative, although with prices dropping to $90/barrel that's not doing too good either.

"Down with Big Oil" coming off the keyboard of Moriarty has as much credibility as me keyboarding out "Viva Capitalism!"  ::)

Teetering on the brink of that move, still. I might very well do it within the next several days. Although I don't view electric cars as total salvation, it's better than V-8 Escalades and Monster Trucks.

To you, an all ICE powered household maybe.

Not to those of us striding along with the ongoing transition to do our part to make Big Oil as obsolete as possible.

But of course. And you, like nearly all Americans, benefit handsomely from such activity. In your case, you are written a check, directly, every year, for your portion of profits. Allows you to purchase more cute BAU toys, right? Keeping BAU up and running, one RE oil profit dollar at a time.

Depends on whether or not you have optimized your drilling program to the economies of scale of pad drilling and completion economics in some place like the over-pressured Bakken, or haven't optimized for pad work, and have less productive acreage in the Eagle Ford.
