You kinda remind me of George Carlin, but just not quite dead yet.

New Tag Line: "The Half-Dead George Carlin of Doom".  :icon_mrgreen:

RE

If this minimal quantity of misguided flattery is giving you some sort of ego boost, I think "The 90% Brain-Dead George Carlin of Doom" is more appropriate.

Minimal quantity?  I've got 3 pages of these Testimonials. This is at least the 4th George Carlin comparison too! :icon_sunny:

I sense envy in the commentariat.

Where's your Testimonials?  If you don't have any, you can have some of mine.  I have plenty to spare.  lol.

RE

Good for you RE - I mean that too.  I was just giving you a little jab.  The news flow you have personally been providing is top notch.  I still can't decide if the BDI plunge means much of anything at all, but you were all over the story.

No worries JP.  My Ego is not like the Monetary System, it is impervious to Deflation.  When I die and leave my corporeal shell, it will expand and Envelope the Entire Universe!  :icon_mrgreen:

The BDI is a great leading indicator.  It's expanded now to the whole shipping industry, Containerized Freight, Rail and Trucking too.  If raw materials aren't moving, eventually this has to hit the end products.

Diner Testimonials- Who Are the "We"?

Largely agree. Really well-said, most of this piece. Love it.

The responsibility and there is responsibility, is to ourselves. No one else! Perhaps, in time, those closest to US will finally realize that our cynicism wasn't just a defect in our DNA, but a manifestation of our disgust with a society lost in its ability and desire to save itself from unnecessary ruin. For the few "True Chroniclers" of our time (you included RE) I sincerely hope their works live on well past their planetary time.

Nice one, RE. As an adjunct, whenever people say things like 'we' are going down I like to quote Tonto:

The Lone Ranger: It’s looks like we’re in a lot of trouble, old friend!

Tonto: What do you mean “we”, Paleface?

Congratulations to the ALL of the Diners who contribute, in one way or the other, to the website I consider my "Daily Bread."

A special note of congratulations to the mainstays (you know who you are) that provide the continual stream of important information, insight, dialogue and thoughtfulness as we wrestle with the most difficult issues of our time. The DD is an extraordinary multi-dimensional platform where intellect, argument, curiosity and humor intersect.

I look forward to many more more visits as well as making the odd comment here and there when the urge overwhelms me.

Good one RE. And I for one do admit to miss the good times, when you kept making doomstead diner audio recordings. You guys always cheared me up tremendously.

I could even steal it, convert it and play it on MP3 player while working outside. ^^I happen to live quite isolated live of self sustenance on my countrys historic border and having a good nasty laugh now and then keeps me sane. It keeps me human.

Thank you for all your good work.

I've found the Diner to be congenial. I recommend giving it a chance to newcomers, which I am.
