Kim Davis Wants to Have her Cake and Eat it Too
« on: September 03, 2015, 12:38:00 PM »
It's a testament to the absolute stupidity of the American judicial system that this woman has a job . It's also a testament to the principle of valuing infotainment over substance in news reporting that this case is even in the news.

Ms. Davis obviously has a lot of support from people in Kentucky, and maybe a lot of other places too. But that doesn't mean she can unilaterally decide which duties of her duly elected office she wants to carry out, and which ones she should just ignore because she doesn't like them.

So... she won't issue marriage licenses to same sex couples. And she won't quit.

Here in Texas we have the equivalent of a county mayor, which, (for some unknown reason) we call that person the County Judge. Apparently in Kentucky they call him/her the County Judge/Executive.

So, Kim Davis has a boss. His name is Walter "Doc" Blevins, and he should have put this woman on administrative leave or fired her weeks ago. Instead, he seems to be enjoying the limelight and the attention that the whole ruckus has brought to rural Moorehead, Kentucky.

I can't help but compare the treatment of this elected official, who swore on the Bible to uphold the U.S. Constitution and the laws of the United States, with the treatment of various whistleblowers like Edward Snowden, Bradley Manning, Robert J. McCarthy, and others.

It's a dog and pony show.

She justifies her position by invoking the Jesus.  When someone uses religion to justify their actions no appeal to reason can stop the endorphin flow in the noggins of the faithful.

It now would be appropriate to test her metal and her faith by having her embrace an involuntary vow of poverty.  The Jesus would not complain.  He likes vows of poverty in his flock.

Mountain folk can be pretty set in their ways certainly.

ah yes…Moorehead Kentucky…only place in this country I have ever been bit by bedbugs while staying at a local hotel.

Well, whistleblowers, traitors, religious nuts, sexually confused and easily manipulated trans gender teens, etc etc.

Can't we just lump all of those who lack self control or any true feeling of self or loyalty or ownership in their own problems into one overall category, call them "the confused", or maybe "those raised without standards" or "those suffering from the 15 minutes of fame" disease?

That would be, "the Jaysus," right?

Anyhow, I'm sure Regnery Press already has her ghostwritten book ready to go explaining how important it is to defend the sanctity of marriage, her own deportment within that exalted state notwithstanding.

Ironies abound.

Between the book sales and the speaking tour and the donations from snakehandlers and other mouthbreathers, she'll be doing very nicely. Poverty will NOT be an issue.

Every time they stand up such a geek show, my head is on a swivel looking around to figure out what it is they want to distract us from.
