SUN☼ You Tube Non-Profit Donation Cards
« on: May 31, 2016, 06:25:18 PM »
You Tube has a new feature which allows anyone to add a "Donation Card" for a Non-Profit Organization to a video they drop on You Tube.  This is only available for non-profit organizations which are registered on You Tube. Sustaining Universal Needs Foundation is one of these non-profits.

The cards are very unobtrusive, appearing as a small "i" in the upper right for a few seconds while the video is playing, or while it is paused.

In order to insert a card on your video for your non-profit of choice, after uploading your video, go to your video manager, click on edit for the video, then annotations, cards and non-profits.  Then type in your chosen non-profit into the search box, hopefully "Sustaining Universal Needs Foundation".  When the database finds it, then it drops in the card wherever in the video you have the cursor set.

I will be adding a Donation Card to all my future You Tube Videos for SUN☼.  Donation choices on the cards are $5, $10, $20 and Other.

Remember, donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Below is more information on how the Donation Cards work from our friends at Google.  ::)

Use & manage donation cards

You can add a donation card to your video if you're based in the United States.

You can raise funds and awareness about causes close to your heart using YouTube's donation cards. Just add a donation card to your video and viewers will be able to make a donation directly to the U.S. nonprofit organization.

We're partnering with Network for Good, a U.S. nonprofit donor-advised fund, and Google covers the incurred processing fees, so all proceeds will go to the organization. Learn how your viewers donate using donation cards.

Add a donation card to your video

Before you start: Choose a nonprofit to support. You can choose any United States, IRS-validated 501(c)3 public nonprofit organization. Nonprofits are not endorsed by YouTube or Google. Learn more about YouTube for Good.

  1. On a computer signed into your YouTube account, go to your Video Manager.
  2. Find the video you want to add cards to and select Edit. This can be a new video that you create specifically for the cause or a video that you've already uploaded.
  3. In the tab bar at the top, select Cards.
  4. Select Add card.
  5. Next to "Donation," click Create.
  6. Type the name of the nonprofit you want to support into the search box. Choose it from the list of available nonprofits and then click Create card. You may have to choose an image, first.
  7. Customize your card:
    • Enter the title and teaser text.
    • Click Change image if you’d like to choose another image from the category images.
  8. Click Create card.

Tips for using donation cards

Cards add interactivity to your videos, but only work if viewers heed your call to action. Make sure to follow our tips for creating successful cards:

  • Only have one card in the video so viewers aren't overwhelmed.
  • Make sure your donation card is relevant to what's being discussed or happening in the video.
  • Make sure to let viewers know to click on the information icon .
  • Make your teaser text interesting and actionable. Use it to provide context for the donation card or cause. The longer the teaser, the bigger the click target for your viewers.
  • Strategically place the teaser text based on what the video is showing. Make sure you place it before the point in the video where viewers drop off.
