Donald Trump, citing no evidence, claims "millions" of people voted illegally in the 2016 election

President-elect Donald Trump is alleging that he would have won the nation’s popular vote if it weren’t for the “millions of people who voted illegally,” during a series of tweets in which he panned the recount efforts that could take place soon in three states.

Mr. Trump expressed his feelings Sunday afternoon on the “so-called popular vote” on Twitter:

In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally

It would have been much easier for me to win the so-called popular vote than the Electoral College in that I would only campaign in 3 or 4--

The president-elect has not provided any evidence for these claims.

Mr. Trump won the electoral vote earlier this month by a wide margin, beating out Clinton with 290 votes compared to her 232. But according to the latest count by the Cook Political Report, which regularly updates its popular vote tally, Mr. Trump is currently losing that vote by over 2.2 million.

The president-elect’s tweetstorm comes as he continues to criticize the Green Party’s Jill Stein for her attempts to initiate vote audits in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Stein’s vote recount efforts are motivated, in part, because of fears that illegal votes were cast for Trump due to hacking or other fraudulent activity.

Earlier this weekend, the Clinton campaign announced it would participate in the recount effort in Wisconsin, where paperwork has already been filed, and would do the same in the other two states if they follow suit.

The president-elect’s latest claim seems to contradicts his previous assertions in the days immediately following the general election, when he called the contest “very open and successful.”

Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!

Millions...millions of people voted illegally. Right. What a putz.

Kellanne Conway managed to snatch Trump's black mirror away from him long enough to get him elected. But now she appears to be on the outs. Supposedly,

Trump was "furious" at Kellyanne Conway's comments Sunday suggesting Trump "betrayed" his supporters by even considering Mitt Romney for a position in his cabinet.

"Kellyanne went rogue at Donald Trump's expense at the worst possible time," a source familiar with Trump's thinking told MSNBC.

This apparently for not having been consulted before Trump's interviewing Romney to assess the depth of the latter's depraavity and lack of scruples, to say nothing of his capacity for ball-gargling. If Willard were to be tapped for SOS, he would have to give his acceptance speech on his knees.

After what Romney said about Trump during the campaign, the fact that Romney met with Trump is proof that Romney is ever-too-willing towilling to demonstrate once again that he is utterly without political principles, to say nothing of self-respect.

Who knows? Not even in office and El caudillo's retinue is already a hall of mirrors to rival Versailles. Could be that Kellyanne knows she's going to be stuck in a corner when the Trumpenkreig moves to Pennsylvania Avenue, so she's sending up a flare to her old friends and co-conspirators in the movement that she'd like a gig in 2020. Note that she has yet to be tapped for any major job. Although she may choose to be a political operative rather than a White House shill and polisher of turds, like a Press Secretary.
