How many US Senators are climate science deniers?
« on: December 14, 2016, 01:44:07 PM »
ExxonMobil's CEO Rex Tillerson is trump's pick to be the next US Secretary of State.

Yeah, crazy, I know.

A simple majority of the US Senate is all that's needed to clear him for that job.

How many US Senators are climate science deniers?  How many are on record as saying (recently enough) that they believe in anthopogenic climate disruption, which is a real threat to our nation and world?

No one knows?

There are only like 3 people now participating here, and 1 of them, me, you won't be allowed to see my response depending on the temperature, time of day, or whatever the newest excuse to erase it will be. And if you DO get to see it, then it will be the first in about the last half dozen or so.

72% of the Republicans according to this 2015 article. I doubt the number has gone down.

I really expected to see an 'Onion' like article but the truth is Republicans have no shame.  They really can't be that stupid, can they?

No they can't, and what they really mean is that climate change is not their problem.  They can take that cash which was not taxed, which they were supposed to create jobs with, and use it to move to where climate change is not a problem.  To a Republican, if it is your problem and not their problem, the problem simply does not exist.

"Following the second straight year that earned the title of hottest year on record, 59 percent of the Republican House caucus and 70 percent of Republicans in the Senate deny the scientific consensus that climate change is happening and humans are the main cause. There are 182 climate deniers in the 114th Congress in 2016–144 in the House and 38 in the Senate."

"The general public is way ahead of Congress — a recent poll found that 76 percent of Americans said they believed global climate change is occurring, including 59 percent of Republicans."

A guess belief is largely a matter of who's funding your campaign.

Once was a time when mobs threw out despots with flaming torches and pitchforks.  I don't advocate for this approach, but I think some non-violent direct action is called for -- such as having the mob surround the offices of government ... perhaps in a tent city ... non-violenting refusing passage of bodies in order to prevent passage of laws.

"America was created during the Age of Reason, so it’s no surprise many founding fathers had a passion for science. Historian Gary Wills called the Declaration of Independence a “scientific paper.”

Fast-forward to today and both the incoming president and vice president, along with roughly the entire cabinet, are active deniers of the most well-established science."
