Hi Surly, just noticed in perusing the latest Diner postings that I featured in my thread one of the articles listed in your daily meme.

Sorry for the oversight, have been away and reappeared upon seeing Karpatok's presence.

Would like to keep it up on my Gold thread if you don't mind. The Article meant an awful lot to me and my personal beliefs about doom and collapse. Forgive my oversight please,           Regards, GO

No problem by me. No one suffers from multiple postings of an article. It's a commonplace for an article to appear in the DDD, then separately on the forum posted by RE or another poster.

IN the advertising world, we are told that someone has to see a commercial eight times before they are even aware they have seen it.  :icon_mrgreen:

INdeed, when Hedges says,

Quote
As a foreign correspondent I covered collapsed societies, including the former Yugoslavia. It is impossible for any doomed population to grasp how fragile the decayed financial, social and political system is on the eve of implosion. All the harbingers of collapse are visible: crumbling infrastructure; chronic underemployment and unemployment; the indiscriminate use of lethal force by police; political paralysis and stagnation; an economy built on the scaffolding of debt; nihilistic mass shootings in schools, universities, workplaces, malls, concert venues and movie theaters; opioid overdoses that kill some 64,000 people a year; an epidemic of suicides; unsustainable military expansion; gambling as a desperate tool of economic development and government revenue; the capture of power by a tiny, corrupt clique; censorship; the physical diminishing of public institutions ranging from schools and libraries to courts and medical facilities; the incessant bombardment by electronic hallucinations to divert us from the depressing sight that has become America and keep us trapped in illusions. We suffer the usual pathologies of impending death. I would be happy to be wrong. But I have seen this before. I know the warning signs. All I can say is get ready.

...it needs to be repeated as many times as possible.

These anti-abortion indoctrination centers being funded by my tax dollars makes me want to spit, preferably upon the gabardines of Dan Patrick (Goebbel) and the rest of the insane clown posse known as the Texas legislature.

What an incredibly stupid waste of money, while these ignorant-ass politicians put Planned Parenthood out of business. Makes me want to go all Palloy on 'em.

They are mostly EXTREMELY conservative guys whose campaigns are Koch funded. Lots of them in the lege. These are not ordinary well-meaning Christians. The entire state political system here has been completely subverted.

These bozos are going to reap what they've sown, in the fullness of time.  Planned Parenthood is not just a place for poor women of color to get an abortion. They have provided a big part of the female health care for most college students and young single women without private insurance for as long as I can remember. My kids went there. Both my wives went there when they were young. None of them got abortions. They got birth control and pap smears to check their reproductive health.

Now, all kinds of sexually transmitted diseases are on the increase. The very children of these conservative legislators are themselves particularly at risk. Their parents treat them like mushrooms, keeping them in the dark and feeding them horse shit. At least when it comes to sex education, which is necessary if we aren't going to have 100% of our population infected with gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, herpes, HIV, and venereal warts.

All these diseases are completely preventable, but rates of infection are currently off-the-charts. This is not a coincidence. It's a direct result of these bad policy decisions.

You know, the high school my own kids attended was one of the most affluent high schools in this state. 95% college bound, including the young ladies. But it was known also as the school with the highest abortion rate in the whole city, higher than the East side schools with large minority populations.

Rich people in my neighborhood (many of whom are Catholic, btw) find doctors to perform abortions to deal with the unwanted pregnancies of  THEIR cheerleader daughters, and they get it over with and never mention it again. It's hypocrisy at it's worst.

Interesting but has no relevance to me, my views, or most of the people known by be who are anti-abortion. You make no mention of the aborted child.

It's all about a totally innocent young baby being murdered because it's still inside it's mother's womb.

Of course this debate will soon end in a war which is not my intent. I was arguing for a bit of tolerance, rather than hatred. Before Surly shows up and posts his gory pictures of coat hangers and blood drippings my intention is to immediately withdraw from this discussion as no good will come from it.                                                                 Thanks for your understanding, Regards, GO
