The article "Steven Pinker's fake enlightenment: His book is full of misleading claims and false assertions" was of interest to me.

This is just one of hundreds of books that have come out recently about global warming. I mean just by professors. They even have scholarly books on many different reasons for the earth going through climatic turmoil. Which lead me to the idea that "nothing that we do or say has anything to do with what is truthful." We only have estimations, based on a quadrillion differing a prioris. Maybe what is happening is a major leap for mankind to take care of business in a way that is integral with natures principles. I am enjoying the journalism and blogs that are trying to make since of this breakdown of cultures across the globe. They all make sense. We would do best to listen closely to all spectrum's of viewpoint. and then don't think about it. What will happen is you will gain fresh insight on how you really feel about it. To rush to a position on such complex issues would be foolish. .....For example I will miss quote the Tao Te Ching, but this is where the phrase originates from "It is through non-action that all things change". It is something like that. Though it is not accurately taken word for word out of some scholars book, it still might be a phrase for our time now.

What I took from the article was the process why which the author drilled down a single aspect of one aspect of Pinker's claims and found it full of shoddy scholarship and unsupported claims.

I'm not sure that all claims on climate change make sense or are worth listening to. I prefer evidence, and when you can see documentation that warming is uncovering lands unseen for 120,000 years, or that changing weather patterns are making out colder in the Great Plains than at the Arctic Circle, I pay attention to those.

In terms of action or non-action, there is little that a city dweller like me can do aside from turn the heat off, which my wife would quickly find unacceptable. Those taking real and meaningful action we find in these pages among our fellow Diners, trial-and-erroring another way to live.
