Masanobu Fukuoka is awesome. I've got his "One Straw Revolution" book on my Amazon 'to buy' list. He was the inspiration for the permaculture movement. No fossil fuels or 'green tech' required here.

Masanobu Fukuoka died on 16 August 2008 at the age of 95, after a period of confinement in bed and in a wheelchair.
I'm glad he was spared having to live through Fukushima.
