Title: Growing Mushrooms
Post by: RE on August 31, 2017, 02:38:42 PM
I was looking up Recipes for doing up a Wild Mushroom Soup (the one Panera Bread used to serve up as a special a couple of times a year was a favorite of mine), and I ran across this video of an Urban Farmer who grows them on his plot of land.  These Morels sell for like $350/lb!!!  Seems to me if you have a decent size plot of land you could make a nice supplemental income growing these things!

I met a guy a couple of years ago who was collecting wild ones and selling them to local restaurants through the back door.  He was doing pretty well.

You should try growing some Morels, Oyster and Shitake Mushrooms  You have lots of nice shady spots they will grow and Seattle weather is usually pretty damp.  I would love to make a Wild Mushroom Soup next time I come down for a visit.  :icon_sunny:  Eddie too.  You can also get trees innoculated with Truffle spores.  That would be real luxury eating if you can get them to grow.  I'll buy the trees.
