Title: Paranoia will annoia, and how can we know?
Post by: K-Dog on December 12, 2018, 09:47:45 PM
Don't know where to put this.

https://unicornriot.ninja/ (https://unicornriot.ninja/)

Took five-teen minutes to load.  Had two different browsers going.  One is still loading.  My spidey sense tells me something is being repressed.

But what?

There's an Assange/Wikileaks thread on the "Heros of the Revolution" board.

This site doesn't load for me at all.  I get the header and then a blank page below it.

RE

We need a genuine weird fuckery link to post these fun discoveries too.  But real genuine weird stuff like this.  The stuff that is you know it when you see it weird stuff.

The know it when you see it wierdness thread.

That could be it!  The genuine weird fuckery thread.  When you are not quite sure if its paranoia or our tax dollars at work.

As for Unicorn Riot.  Eventually it will load.

You don't have your own Newz Channel as of yet.  Why don't you make a channel and create the thread there? ???

RE

Yeah, good idea.  Just because I have it does not mean I have to put something there every day but when I do.  Well Then.

You should watch the embed.

'The precise settings are never revealed, but TMIMITW performs feats such as freeing an angry bear from a painful-looking bear trap, shooting a pool trick shot before an audience (by shooting the cue ball out of the mouth of a man lying on the pool table), catching a marlin while cavorting in a Hemingway-esque scene with a beautiful young woman, winning an arm-wrestling match in a South American setting, surfing a killer wave, and bench pressing two young women, each seated in a chair, in a casino setting.'

The most interesting man in the world does the most complicated things you can imagine with ease and grace.  When opportunity knocks and TMIMITW is not home opportunity waits.  The most interesting man in the world needs no preps.  TMIMITW fears not doom.

 CIVITAS DEI, CIVITAS SOLIS, CIVILISATION: THE END OF THE AFFAIR

(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GtCpi5VgbVc/VH7gTlxhGYI/AAAAAAAABks/xHipio1jOdo/s1600/Civitas%2Bveri.png)

How has it come about that so many people have adopted this strange attitude of hostility to civilisation?
Sigmund Freud, Civilisation and its Discontents

I call an animal, a species, an individual corrupt, when it loses its instincts, when it prefers what is injurious to it.
Friedrich Nietzsche, The Antichrist(ian)

Everyone knows the quote, whether or not it was ever actually spoken. Those whom Guillaume Faye describes as ethnomasochists, Westerners who hate themselves and their ilk and their achievements, repeat it with relish. When allegedly asked by a journalist what he thought of Western civilisation, Mahatma Gandhi supposedly replied; “I think it would be a good idea”. Whether or not this spindly icon of the disenfranchised ever actually mouthed these words or not, they are better known than a far more verifiable aside from Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of post-colonial India. “It takes a lot of money,” he said, “to keep Gandhi in poverty.”

‘Civilisation’ has as its Latin root civitas, the body of citizens comprising a state, usually a city-state of the type hypothesised by Plato in the famous Republic. The word already implies a measure of social cohesion, co-operation and mutual facilitation towards a greater goal, the well-being of the populace, the good city. It isn’t that Gandhi’s peasant, idiot savant witticism was wrong but, as Hamlet says, the time is out of joint. It isn’t that civilisation would be a good idea; it’s that it was a good idea.

The civilisations men – all those despised dead white males - have built, the ones they have aimed to build and failed, Plato’s res publica, the public entity, Augustine’s civitas dei, the city of God here on earth, the civitas solis of the alchemists, the city of the sun, splendour and magic. And look at the worthless tenement we ended up with, all iPhones and The Great British Bake Off and Nelson Mandela. Civilisation doesn’t require a meditative stroll through a Renaissance art gallery while quoting Dante and Kant. That is a part of it, but not the sine qua non. Civilisation is rather the hundred daily kindnesses observable even in our rather unpleasant cities. As we import cultures, from Mohammedanism through crony capitalism to rap, these kindnesses will become vestigial, an antiquarian curiosity. It won’t do.

It won’t do and it won’t last. The barbarians are not at the gates; they are inside the city walls. We should have listened to the – appropriately enough – Arabic proverb; rather a thousand enemies outside the house than one inside. But we don’t even know who our enemies are. We have the pale, flabby courtiers of the Western media telling us, commanding us to believe, that our enemies have names like ISIS, UKIP, Vladimir Putin, when their names are Herman van Rumpoy, David Cameron, Barack Hussein Obama…

The writing is on the wall for Western civilisation, certainly in the incarnation of its historically dominant white ethny. Our time, the time of the white man and woman, is over now. As a good friend of mine says; it’s someone else’s go on the pool table. Fine. Let’s hand history over to Islam, or blacks, or China. Let’s give it a hundred years or so, and see how it rolls.

I won’t be around, of course. Good, says the Lefty. You are a slaver, a dominator, a hegemon. But we will not go away. Simply put, we will hide. And, when the ensuing chaos, a chaos which we cannot now escape, gives a moment of respite, we will re-emerge. Leonard Cohen’s version of The Partisan; Then we’ll come from the shadows…

You’ll be aware of the Hollywood genre movie in which the moneyed, suburban family man is suddenly cast out into the jungle, or urban wasteland, or sinister conspiracy, and has to fight for his life, discovering a new skill set he didn’t know he had but was there all along, buried in the atavistic depths waiting for an opportunity to be called on. This shooting script – and there is a lot of shooting coming up – is what the West needs now. Gandhi and his state-supported, indentured kind may think Western civilisation would be a good idea, but those days are gone with the Raj. What is needed now – and what the West is going to get whether it wants it or not, like bitter medicine spooned into a bawling child’s mouth – is de-civilisation.

We need to go backwards for a while. Pity the young Western boy or girl. Brought up to think they can all be models, or footballers, or rap stars. No, kids. You’ll be lucky to be stacking shelves in Tesco.

We had everything, we have everything, but we gave it away, are giving it away, thanks to the traitors who sit in our marbled halls of power. Intellectual or shop-worker, banker or rough-sleeper, journalist or junkie, it’s coming your way. How will you deal with the coming collapse? Will you run or hide, or will you stand up and be counted? Will you face our Western fate like a man, or like a diversity officer in an NHS trust? We’ll see.

Civilisation, in my belief, is fast approaching the equivalent of the Brechtian penultimate scene in Scorsese’s Goodfellas, in which the Mafioso Henry Hill – a real character; see the book Wiseguys - steps down from the dock to recount the violent yet successful history of the mob before its inevitable decline. Addressing the camera, actor Ray Liotta says,

“We had it all. And now it’s all over.”

I may be wrong. I hope I am. I have a vested interest in being wrong, after all. I have a little niece, who I adore, and some of you reading this have kids. Good Lord. What will they become? What will they see? But I think civilisation is over, for the time being, being and time. The reason? It is far better expressed by Henry Rollins, rocker and general hard-nut, than that old fraud Gandhi:

“Freedom? You can’t handle freedom.”

Thanks much.  You will enjoy it.  I'm pretty far into it and I'm seeing a rhyme happening.  In 1929 most of America suddenly found itself out of work and without a safety net.  A prelude to collapse.  A hostile dance with capitalism ensued between screwed over workers and our social show dogs that lasted a decade long.

Currently we have the equivalent of H. Hoover in the White House and are in the first act waiting on the 1929 trigger.  Will we also have a WW in ten years?

North Korean cargo ship seized by US arrives in American Samoa

This undated photo released by the U.S. Justice Dept, Thursday, May 9, 2019, shows the North Korean cargo ship Wise Honest. (AP)

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa: A North Korean cargo ship seized by the US because of suspicion it was used to violate international sanctions arrived Saturday at the capital of this American territory.
The Wise Honest was slowly towed to the port of Pago Pago during a cloudy Saturday morning and docked at the main docking section of the port that afternoon.
The trip from Indonesia took about three weeks and American Samoa, in the South Pacific, was chosen because of “its central strategic location,” US Coast Guard public affairs officer Amanda Wyrick said.
“We also have a good strong relationship and partnership with the American Samoan government,” Wyrick said. “With that being said, we also already have the resources that are able to ensure the security of the vessel but most importantly the Port of Pago Pago.”
The ship was detained in April 2018 as it traveled toward Indonesia. Justice Department officials announced Thursday that the US had seized the ship.
Asked as to how long the ship will be in the territory, Wyrick said the US Department of Justice is “leading the investigation so they will be conducting that. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the ship will be moved.” But the next destination is unknown, she said.
“I do know that Justice Department is going to do the investigation as fast as they can,” Wyrick added.
She said she didn’t have the exact number of US Coast Guard personnel or people from other federal agencies who have traveled to American Samoa for the investigation.
“I do know that, we have a marine and safety security team here from Honolulu,” Wyrick said. “We’re conducting random patrols, also conducting inspection of the vessel and the Port of Pago Pago, keep an eye on things such as security breaches or vandalization of the ship itself.”
Officials are also making sure the port is protected, she said.
“We especially in the Coast Guard, we understand the importance of the port. It’s a lifeline in getting goods to the islands,” Wyrick said. “So we want to make sure that we’re doing everything we can, to make sure that there’s absolutely no disruption to the flow of commerce coming in and out.”
The US government dispatched to the territory an inspection team to the ship before it docked in Pago Pago, she said. Wyrick noted there was an inspection conducted before leaving Indonesia and, because the ship has been at sea for three weeks, “it’s subject to the elements.”
“The inspection of the ship before entering the harbor is to make sure the structure integrity of the boat is still intact. In that way, once we get the thumps up, and the green light, and the inspectors deem it safe, then it will enter the port,” Wyrick said.
US officials made the announcement of the ship’s seizure hours after North Korea fired two suspected short-range missiles toward the sea, the second weapons launch in five days and a possible signal that stalled talks over its nuclear weapons program are in trouble.

I'm going to disagree.  Americans do not know this happened.  I got the article from a Saudi Arabian Newspaper so nothing is getting sold on our TV by this.  This is a Diner exclusive.  The ship was seized to provoke Rocket man or to remind him who is boss but the fact that shit was being stirred with a stick was not for American public consumption.  Or did we all forget we do not have a right to know.

I also remember when the USS Pueblo got a parking ticket for parking in downtown Pyongyang.

I also remember when the USS Pueblo got a parking ticket for parking in downtown Pyongyang.

And I am going to disagree with you. The USS Pueblo was a Navy spy ship, ID'd by the Navy as an "environmental research ship." It was engaged in "environmental research" off the NK coast when it was intercepted by North Korean patrol boats. The U.S. claimed the Pueblo was in international waters almost 16 miles from shore, but the North Koreans turned their guns and demanded its surrender. The Americans attempted to escape, and the North Koreans opened fire, wounding Commander Lloyd Bucher and two others.

Pueblo's crew as frogmarched to Pyongyang for a show trail, where they were charged with spying within North Korea’s 12-mile territorial limit and imprisoned. they were then offered some of North Korea's finest accommodations and encouraged to sign false confessions. They were filmed with middle fingers extended, explaining to their captors that oil was the "Hawaiian good luck sign." When Uncle Kim's boys caught on, they punished the prisoners with beatings, cold temperatures and sleep deprivation, according to a lawsuit later filed by some of the Pueblo’s crew against the Kim government.

Eventually Bucher signed some sort of statement admitting guilt, and within a year there was a settlement in which the US admitted the ship’s intrusion into North Korean waters, apologized, and pledged to cease any future such action. The surviving 82 crewmen were then released.

The reason I am so read in on the USS Pueblo is that the reporting of this episode made a huge impact on me at the time as a freshman and sophomore in college. I can say that this and Sy Hersh's reporting on My Lai changed my perspectives forever.

Reality Avoidance

It’s quite amazing how the news is endlessly about race, or gender, or an election that is 1.5 yrs away. Filler, is what I call it. Very little of this has anything to do with reality, which the Mainstream Media and the American people avoid like the plague. What then is real?

1. The empire is in decline; every day, life here gets a little bit worse; all our institutions are corrupt to varying degrees; and there is no turning this situation around.

2.A crucial factor in this decline and irreversibility is the low level of intelligence of the American people. Americans are not only dumb; they are positively antagonistic toward the life of the mind.

3.Relations of power and money determine practically everything. The 3 wealthiest Americans own as much as the bottom 50% of the population, and this tendency will get worse over time.

4.The value system of the country, and its citizens, is fundamentally wrong-headed. It amounts to little more than hustling, selfishness, narcissism, and a blatant disregard for anyone but oneself. There is a kind of cruelty, or violence, deep in the American soul; many foreign observers and writers have commented on this. Americans are bitter, depressed, and angry, and the country offers very little by way of community or empathy.

5.Along with this is the support of meaningless wars and imperial adventures on the part of most of the population. That we drone-murder unarmed civilians on a weekly basis is barely on the radar screen of the American mind. In essence, the nation has evolved into a genocidal war machine run by a plutocracy and cheered on by mindless millions.

Most Americans hide from these depressing, even horrific, realities by what passes for ‘the news’, but also by means of alcohol, opioids, TV, cell fones, suicide, prescription drugs, workaholism, and spectator sports, to name but a few. This stuffing of the Void is probably our primary activity. In a word, we are eating ourselves alive, and only a tiny fraction of the population, recognizes this. - Morris Berman

https://morrisberman.blogspot.com/ (https://morrisberman.blogspot.com/)

* Morris needs to understand that the American public is so dumb they don't even know they are dumb.  Pointing it out thus only pisses them off.  Pointing it out is dumb.

Every word true. He's been writing on this theme through a number of related books. Dark Ages America was my Saul-on-the-read-to-Damascus moment in encountering Berman and crystallizing thoughts on the hopelessness of our way of life.

It's a rich vein to mine, and goes right to the very center of American earth. Maybe his next book will be, "The Stuffing of the Void."

Puts me in mind of Paul Levy and other writers who have explored the subject of "wetiko" as a descriptor of our soul-sickness. Wetiko is an Algonquin word for a cannibalistic spirit driven by greed, excess, and selfish consumption. Wetiko is a sickness of soul and spirit. the native peoples in North America were stunned by contact with western colonizers:

Quote
"We did not think of the great open plains, the beautiful rolling hills, and the winding streams with tangled growth as “wild.” Only to the White man was nature a “wilderness” and only to him was the land infested by “wild” animals and “savage” people. To us it was tame. Earth was bountiful and we were surrounded with the blessings of the Great Mystery. Not until the hairy man from the east came and with brutal frenzy heaped injustices upon us and the families we loved was it “wild” for us."
~ Luther Standing Bear, Land of the Spotted Eagle

It’s delicate confronting these priests of the golden bull
They preach from the pulpit of the bottom line
Their minds rustle with million dollar bills
You say Silver burns a hole in your pocket
And Gold burns a hole in your soul
Well, uranium burns a hole in forever
It just gets out of control.

– Buffy Sainte-Marie, “The Priests of the Golden Bull”

Another the illness is the illusion of "control." As I get older, I am fortunate to be able to control my own bladder. Mostly. The Helmsmen of the Universe control only a tiny bit more. The world is full of unintended consequences. I'm confident that USAnians will be stepping on any number of rakes very soon.

Another reason Morris Berman lives in Mexico.

Asking the American public to judge his 2020 Democratic presidential campaign by both its supporters and its powerful enemies, Sen. Bernie Sanders on Wednesday unveiled an "anti-endorsement" list consisting of prominent billionaires, Wall Street bankers, and corporate CEOs who have attacked his candidacy and policies.

Quote
"These people have a vested interest in preserving the status quo so they can keep their grip on power so they can continue to exploit working people across America."
—Sen. Bernie Sanders

"You can tell who is truly fighting for working families by the enemies they make, and we've made a lot of enemies," Sanders said in a statement. "We understand that nothing will fundamentally change for working Americans unless we have the guts to take on the most powerful corporate interests in this country."

"Therefore it should come as no surprise that corporate CEOs and billionaires have united against our movement," Sanders added. "These people have a vested interest in preserving the status quo so they can keep their grip on power so they can continue to exploit working people across America. We welcome their hatred."

The Sanders campaign lists the Vermont senator's anti-endorsements on a new webpage. The page includes billionaire Democratic mega-donor Haim Saban, who attacked Sanders as a "disaster zone" in an interview published Wednesday.

The rest of the list consists of:

    Billionaire Home Depot co-founder Kenneth Langone;
    Former CKE Restaurants CEO Andy Puzder;
    Former Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam;
    JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon;
    Disney CEO Bob Iger;
    Former General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt;
    Former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein;
    Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan;
    Centrist think-tank Third Way;
    Former Goldman Sachs partner Leon Cooperman;
    Home Depot co-founder Bernard Marcus; and
    Billionaire hedge fund manager Stanley Druckenmiller.

"As we fight for an agenda that guarantees basic human rights for all Americans, we will be opposed by the most powerful forces in America," Sanders wrote on his website. "I am proud to announce the modern-day oligarchs who oppose our movement. In the words of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt: 'They are unanimous in their hate for me–and I welcome their hatred.'"

"We will overcome their greed," said Sanders, "and create an economy and a government that works for all, not just the one percent.

To be clear LOWES is NOT on the list.  Do read for comprehension on this please.  It does not prove that LOWES is good necessarily.  It only shows that LOWES is not on Sanders list so until I know better; to LOWES I will go.

Video surfaced on Tuesday of a vortex of coal being sucked into the sky in West Virginia.  A swirl of apocalypse.
