Top 13 best movies ever made...a list

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
I saw that movie with my mother, in Anaheim California in 1989 at a drive in theater.  It was a double feature night...I remember cause we watched the movie Backdraft
Backdraft
Backdraft

after Prince of Thieves, which had just came out that night.  There were probably 200 cars packed into that theater.  The Prince of Thieves soundtrack is one of my favorite movie soundtracks next to Braveheart and another Kostner movie Dances With Wolves.  Which would be on my top 10 all time favorite movies list.  When I was a teenager I could speak the Sioux parts in Sioux...no lie (well some of them anyways )

Hell while I'm at it...I'll think up my top 13 right now:

1) Waking Life

2) The Big Lebowski
The Big Lebowski
The Big Lebowski

3) American Beauty

4) Fightclub

5) The Matrix

6) Requiem for a Dream

7) Waterworld

8 ) Braveheart

9) Dances with Wolves

10) Robin Hood Prince of Thieves

11) Equilibrium

12)  Brave

13)  The Secret of Kells

Not necessarily in that order...and this list could easily be amended given I remember a movie that should have been on the list but wasn't.  I'm sure that will happen if others start listing their top 13.

Nope. LOL.

The older you get, the harder it is to decide on the best movies. And these days, I don't see many movies. I did like the hell out of Backdraft.

Movies I love...in no particular order:

1. Caddyshack
2. Blazing Saddles
3. Born Into This (A Charles Bukowski Documentary)
4. Pulp Fiction
5. China Town
6. The Last Picture Show
7. The Shawshank Redemption
8. Man on Wire
9. Groundhog Day
10. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
11. Same River Twice (another documentary, about river guides)
12.The Sting
13. Manhattan
Bonus track: The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

I forgot a good one!

The movie 180 Degrees South is an awesome fucking movie. It has REAL sailing footage.  You wanna think about a sailing bugout, you'd have to watch it. Not only that...it has all these cameo interviews with Yvon Chouinard, that are just incredible and quote-worthy. He is a remarkable man.

Sorry Lucid, You are of course a much younger man than I am.  No doubt in my mind you would enjoy most of them if you gave them a shot. There isn't one in the list I haven't watched at least a half dozen times.   :icon_sunny:

Here are some of my favorites that I watch over and over again.  I'll bet most of you haven't even heard of most of them, so I included Amazon links if you want to look up the descriptions.  No claims whatsoever are made for artistic merit.

1.   The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimension
2.   Groundhog Day
3.   After Hours
4.   Mr. Frost
5.   Big Trouble In Little China
6.   Silent Running
7.   Logan's Run
8.   She (1965)
9.   UHF
10. The Gods Must Be Crazy
11. Vamp
12. Wallace and Grommit: A Matter of Loaf or Death
13. Prince of Darkness

(Full disclosure: I did put my associate ID on the links.  Should anyone actually make a purchase using them, I will forward my commission to the SUN project.)

8- A Boy and his Dog

I loved that movie!  It was a lot tamer than the novella, though, which in a way was for the most part more fitting.  They did, however, leave out my absolute favorite line from the written story, the very last line, where the Boy answers the question the Girl asked, "Don't you know what love is?": "Love is what a boy feels for his dog."
