Jan Reid, RIP
« on: October 04, 2020, 01:42:05 PM »
Another one of the great Austin writers is gone. Along with Gary Cartwright, Jan Reid WAS Texas Monthly back in the day.....and he lived through a lot, including being shot in a holdup by robbers in Mexico City in 1998.....he almost died back then, but lived to write about it.....and to walk again,

One of the really great journalists of my generation.

Two of my cousins live there now, one says they have the greatest everything. Bands including the one that did the 90s hits with 'where were they going', a better silicone valley where her husband works and a new hospital that she fundraises for keeping affordable treatment. I remember the name of the neuro centre on the campus, because it's the same as the suburb where I grew up, Seaton. Bigger and better than Sinai, doing things I wouldn't know.
