Tried to move RE's question, about the brown dot having disappeared, from Strictly DD Updates Log thread to here, and mucked it up.

Anyway, yes the brown dot problem has gone with the update to 2.0.13 .
There was a lot of argument at SMF about priorities, and fixing 2.0.12 was lowest, and then suddenly it is done.   ::)

Please try and not clutter up the update log with questions and error reports. You are welcome to put them in this thread.

Reporting website errors and questions: New Blog Problem
« Reply #2 on: May 23, 2017, 01:18:21 AM »
OK, we have a new problem.

Now, whenever I try to "save draft" on the Blog, instead of saving the draft it flips me back to the list of posts.  Then if I reopen the post I was working on, the draft was not saved.

The first occurred about 10 minutes ago, 12:03 AM AK Time

The page on which it is occurring is

http://www.doomsteaddiner.net/blog/wp-admin/post.php?post=35300&action=edit

There is no error message showing up, it simply redirects to the page with the list of posts.  I tried to update the draft several times and always got the same result.  I do not know yet whether I can publish the blog, I won't know that for about another 45 minutes when the clock turns over.  I will update at that time.

RE

I am sorry to report that the Blog is TOTALLY FUCKED UP!

I was only able to barely get the text of my current article up.  I can't do any draft editing at all.  The draft button is missing quite often, but even if it is there, it doesn't update drafts, it just flips you out to the list of posts screen.

This problem is WORSE than the login problem!  :o

First you've GOT TO calm down.
Next you've got to tell me what it says when you go to https://doomsteaddiner.net/palloy/phpversion.php
Then you've GOT TO calm down.
I have no idea what the problem is and I can't reproduce it.
For me it is  NOT down.
i can't understand what you are talking about.
"it simply redirects to the page with the list of posts." - what page is that FCS!
Give me something to go on.
And pull yourself together and CALM DOWN.

The page I am currently looking at is my most recent article edit page.

http://www.doomsteaddiner.net/blog/wp-admin/post.php?post=35313&action=edit

The page does NOT currently show the "Save Draft" button which should appear in the upper right of the menu bar, next to the "preview page" button.

Even when it did appear, it was not saving the drafts, just redirecting to the list of posts page

http://www.doomsteaddiner.net/blog/wp-admin/edit.php

I lost several drafts and had to rewrite extensively.  Fortunately, the base of the article was composed on my own text editor, so it was only a few paragraphs.  But then I couldn't add the graphics and illistrations afterwards.  I barely got the text up.

Immediately after posting on Geopolitics at 03:57GMT I got the error:

Quote
Table './doomstea_smp_d2db72/smf_related_subjects' is marked as crashed and should be repaired
File: /home/doomstea/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-RelatedFulltext.php
Line: 109

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 2.0.14, while your database is at version 2.0.2. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

PHP VERSION was 5.6.30
The post to Geopolitics appears to have succeeded.

I have started a full backup of the site at 04:15GMT

I have deleted the 2 backups from May 17. Today's backup is 4.8 GB and should be downloaded to somewhere safe off-site.

home/doomstea/backup-5.26.2017_00-14-56_doomstea.tar.gz
I have looked at somewhere safe off-site, but GoogleDrive is probably as good as anything (takes time to upload it).

Go to https://doomsteaddiner.net:2083 and login to CPanel.
Then click on File Manager.
in the folder panel on the left click on /home/doomstea
in the file panel on the right click on the file
then click on Download on the toolbar
when it's finished, do whatever you normally do to save it on GoogleDrive, making sure its access is kept private to you only.
You can keep the file on your own HDD, but then if you have a fire or a ICBM strike from NK you're stuffed.

CPanel backups can be sent directly to an FTP server, which saves on downloading and uploading, but FTP Servers with GBs of storage aren't cheap.
GoogleDrive gives you acres of free storage but doesn't have an FTP interface.  Likewise Microsoft's One Drive. Free FTP servers don't offer much storage.

I'll work on it.

Just a note though, backup copies of the website are taken automatically and stored offsite.  I pay extra for that service too.
