Spirituality & Mysticism / Re: Mrs. Christ
« on: September 22, 2012, 12:00:08 PM »
I have not yet had time to read/listen to all of this. (but i will find it).   I was under the impression (from childhood research) that the Christ title was not applied to Jesus until about 300AD when the Greek Christos cult was merged with the Jeshuan cult and made a state religion by Constantine (those that might have opposed this being previously slaughtered).  Can anyone shed light on this?

Looks good.   Hard to fit a reasonable prep stash there, but a "root cellar" or shipping container might suffice.

The problem with this approach is that few are allowed to do it.   It is rendered impossible or ludicrous by most zoning codes in a large part of USA.

In my town there is a minimum square foot rule "in town" or village district, that would prohibit such structures.  Outside of the restricted zoning area, in rural/residential or rural/agricultural (where I am) this would be "allowed" but one still needs (among other things) a state approved septic @$2-3K design + $10-15K build, a drilled well @$5-15K and a reinforced concrete foundation.   Electricity is also required, and if not grid, you must file plans for approval (~$5K unless you have the proper engineering license).  A "buildable" lot costs $35K minimum with an average near $60K.  By the time you have paid for that, ($60K min, $95K avg), building a "shack" is a bit odd!  If you can find an occupied shack and renovate it slowly that floats.  I live in one of the most "permissive" towns within 50 mi..... ie. if you build something that will pay them $500+ a month in property tax, they will waive various rules for you, but if you want to build "a shack" every rule will be enforced to the letter.   There are towns about 100 mi further out without zoning, but i am as far out now as i can manage.  Family is scattered in a rough arc 50-100mi towards the unending shitty, and my primary mate (who requires a $XXX,xxx corp job to feel real) needs a room when she is on site for more than a day as the commute is ~2hr each way.

The Kitchen Sink / Re: Futile or not, here I come.

I can relate to tired.

Tired of relatives who emulate the three monkees.  No evil exists, is to be seen or heard.  Talk of "doom" or preps is  negative, depressed or depressing.  "Haven't you got anything positive or cheerfull to say about things?"  or "None of that stuff will happen, they will find a way to keep things going".  Only three of an extended family of over sixty people is making any serious preps or lifestyle changes.  About five others are willing to discuss the topic(s) sometimes, and these have some spare ammo, a few gold/silver coins or maybe two weeks food in the pantry; and one has a few K FRNs in the backyard.

Tired of watching decline and waiting for collapse.  Financial collapse was predictable after "guns and butter" and closing the gold window in 1971.  Still has not happened though.

I get the distinct feeling that the stuff i prepped for might not happen till long after my demise, and partying would have been wiser and more fun.   My grand nieces and nephews are the ones who need to adopt my resilient lifestyle, but they want the bling.  I'm tired of trying to explain it to them.

Doomsteading / Re: What If A Collapse Happened And Nobody Noticed?

No reason to fear the collapse-look around, you're already living though it even as you read these words, and you're presumably still here. Take a deep breath. Relax. Have a beer.

As long as there is Beer available, it's not a Collapse.

In fact, the DEFINITION of Collapse is

If you can motor to a supermarket (or food club, package store, etc), load the truck with some decent brew at a reasonable price, and pay for it with electrons or paper,  we don't have collapse yet!  Decline is ongoing, and intensifying as detailed in the original post; but when collapse happens, IMHO we will know it.

Could there be slow decline until there is nothing left to collapse?   Yes, and I could win a Powerball jackpot!  Doubt we'll be that (un)lucky.

Conspiracy / Re: Bombing of US Embassies in Libya and Egypt

My first reaction to the killing of the ambassador was that a little "cleaning" or "mission closure" had occurred.  That could still be the case; but if so, likely part of something bigger, like cranking up the war machine.  Multiple motives for op and multiple ops in play suggest the Zionist/Illuminati choice is more likely.
